Time to revive this thread !
Some data for this year, taken from
here (Times of India, 3rd Jan 2006) :
IIM-Bangalore
Shortlisted around 1,003 candidates for 290 seats. GD/PI: Between March 20 and April 2
IIM-Ahmedabad
Shortlisted 882 candidates for 250 seats GD/PI: Between Feb 18 and March 25
IIM-Kolkata
Shortlisted 1,200 candidates for 270-300 seats GD/PI: Between March 12-16
IIM-Kozhikode
Shortlisted 1,800 candidates for 180 seats GD/PI: Between February 6-March 23
IIM-Lucknow
Shortlisted more than 1,000 candidates for 300 seats (240 for the regular MBA and 60 for the agribusiness) GD/PIs: February-March
IIM-Indore
Shortlisted 1,300 candidates for 180 seats. GD/PI: Between February and early April
but the same article on TOI says :
".... Of the 1.55 lakh students, who braved the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2005, one of the toughest entrance test in the country, for admissions to some of the prestigious B-schools in the country, only
6,185 students have crossed the first hurdle.
These 6,000-odd students have been shortlisted for group-discussion (GD) and personal interviews that will be conducted by the six Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) between February and April. CAT was held on November 20, 2005. For Neha, who was shortlisted for one of the IIMs, it still is a long way to make it to the IIM classroom, as there are just
1,500-odd seats with 6,185 students vying for them ... "
Now if you add up the number of calls from the above data, it's 7185 - so is it that TOI has
erroneously (both logically, assuming no overlaps and mathematically) added all of them Or is it that there are indeed 6185
individual students being called this time around ? the latter
can't be true !? Puys, what do you think?
