GD prep - 04-12-2004, 07:43 PM

buddies instead of deliberating on where when how etc....lets start thinking on GD lines....

1. lets make it a point to have an opinion ... we dont wanna be caught off gaurd rite.. reading is fine, but without the opinion i guess it would be futile...

2. our opinion should show rather market our qualities ... so lets shape our opinions, instead of shooting from the lip...

3. lets remember theres no right/wrong ... evry1 is entitled to his/her own ...hence lets not cut a person short when they're making a point ... worse when some1 refutes dont justify ur point (this is the biggest mistake ppl make) ...u dont lose brownie points when some1 refutes ur points, if u justify u turn it in2 a debate, which is not a GD...

4. if its a fish market, lets not join in...rather lets show conflict management skills... its not a first come first serve thingie...

5. the guy who speaks first is not the guy whose gonna make it... (many ppl confuse this with initiative)...methinks if its too quite a word of encouragement shows initiative...not evry1 wanting to speak 1st...(thts my opinion)

...enuf of the sermon lets start on this note...then when we meet we will atleast have direction...

shoot in ur views

well i was thinking of another important component of GDPIs and that is the case study. not only are these a regular feature at some IIM GDs, they have been at all the MDI GDs i've heard abt...

so whaddaya guys think?

Gordon speaks of certain qualities that we should market when we present ourselves in GD. One imp quality that moderators look at is Assertiveness. If you are convinced abt a view on certain issue, be assertive enough and stick to it, you may be grilled on this in ur PI session. However, as Gordon says, dont justify it to the extent that it turns into a debate.

Few things that I am doing at home:
(1) Preparaing an SOP (tough job )
(2) Going through various GD topics of past few years and jotting doing points.
(3) Reading Newspapers, Mags, articles and whatever I can lay hands on.
(4) Refreshing my College subjects (BCom)

Junta, pour in with ur comments and strategies.

Hey Gordon,
Nice initiative, guide the group ahead. Think we are moving slow, probably people are busy with other exams. Lets hv a plan in place.
