c mon mate i dont think this question is absurd at all...coz ther r people who even after lots of hard work do not succeed...whereas some of these 100 percentilers manage it all without much difficulty....i feel tht born talent does play a critical role....!

this wouldn't have happened to a 100th %iler as he wouldn't have been dreaming,
instead he would be looking at what lies ahead of him on the road! | Shrikanth,
I have been following your posts since CAT. I dunno if you'll want to take my advice, but take it easy man. Wait till the results come out. *Don't lose hope so soon. Let me tell you something that I firmly believe in .. No effort that one puts in will ever go to waste .. in any situation .. be it a CAT or some other exam or an interview or any such thing. If things go wrong this time and you don't get a call, put it behind you. Learn from your mistakes this time and put in the same effort and you'll def land multiple calls.
I can understand how frustrating it feels when you work so hard for something and then you feel that its slipping between your fingers. Just wait till the results come out. Have fun in college. I know UVCE is a great place to have fun. My 4 years there was spent in total fun. So, as a senior and as a fellow CATer , I advise you to relax. Don't be so hard on urself
I guess lot of ppl find this topic funny, but take it easy guys. Maybe you would appreciate this topic if it read "Diff between callgetters and non-callgetters" One week after CAT is when reality hits most ppl, especially students writing exams who haven't had time over the week to ponder abt what actually happened. So, everyone take it easy on anything you find ridiculous on this thread (maybe my advice too)
My two cents worth ... If you are going to walk on thin ice, you may as well dance

...and yes some 100 ptiles dont have the background of great acads or competitive success .....for ex many of the non IIT 100 ones must have flunked the JEE.....doe it mean they r any lesser?...or that many JEE crackers r less than 99...
....Many non 100 ptilers crack the scene in the first year - when it matters most and move to i-bank or consults, leaving the higher ptilers for day 1 or 2 jobs....
...now which is more important...top ptile or top grade in PGP1?!
....to be in that bracket of a genius , my view is that one should be for ex: JEE tenner, a Btech '"abs 10", INMO finalist (may be a gold at the international), an effortless 1600 GRE and an effortless 99.99 ptile in CAT....I know of those natural studs doing all this and more with a bottle or two at night and the 'high' in the morning.....I know of a stud at IITk who would effortlessly do a ten in CSE and help other insignificants in Mech or Elec or Aero do a 9...
now that is rare! | | | | | | | |

My tupennies worth:
The 100%ilers never let anything (Or atleast, anything in their chosen domain) dominate them. They know that the human brain can cut any 'tough' problem down to size if used in the right way. Because of this, and also independent of this, they always believe in themselves. The competition for them does not exist, only the problem at hand exists, and so does its solution, which they know they're going to find at short notice. I mean, look at it objectively, what the heck IS competition? Just 100, 1000, or 150000 people striving for the same place you're trying to get into. Can you do anything to change their number or their zeal? No. So why do ppl waste so much time lamenting the competition? Just ignore all this noise about competition that the media, the coaching instis, our relatives and friends generate. Learn to FOCUS solely on the problem at hand. Focus (Or call it attention/concentration) is the key to solving a problem. Though luck does play a role, massive doses of luck are rarely received, and never on a consistent basis (Else such a lucky guy would have become famous enough for everybody to know about).
Looking at what I've written, I find that I've only restated what others have already said. Still, here goes. What can I do about this __competition__ anyway No one can go back and make a brand new start, but everyone can start today and make a brand new end.
