One thing learnt this time is, "Read the Instructions".

I did, but I believe many didn't read this important piece of paper and suffered miserably. I saw articles in TOI (Ahmedabad Edition) of a guy complaining that he had to keep referring to the first page to figure out the marks for each question.

Man, you're supposed to remember the marks and if you can't, the marks were printed in BOLD before each section/sub-section of questions started.

Moral of the story. Read Everything.

Hmm........and what makes you say that XPEDITER ? I mean its a pretty strong decision so I just making sure that its not just the "aftermath" of nov 21st

See its not so much as having an aptitude for cracking cat than a question of taking it again as being out of scope. See in life something charms you for sometime. After that it kinda looses its charms and your goals become different. For me it was more a case of that.

Example, mere dad ko kabhi mein mercedez road pe jaate hue dikhaaun, he never gets excited. Because its out of his scope. Same thing for many engineers when it comes to IIT. If someone had told u ki dekh woh jaa raha hai uska IIT JEE mein AIR so-and-so tha, u wudve been awfully excited. Abhi Im sure it elicits a lot milder response When u know abhi milke koi faayda nahi toh fight maarne ka mann chala jaata hai. If I were still in B.Sc I would have been as excited to give it a fight year after year till I finally get through.

Some food for thought here

Arun

Re: CAT ’04 – Few Lessons Learnt & Road Ahead!! - 24-11-2004, 11:14 AM

This was my third attempt(2 in 2003 and 1 in 2004). This time I thought I had a good chance of making it to the top. I was in a daze after the test. I woke up in the middle of the night on Sunday and looked at the paper again .. there were so many really easy questions that I had just ignored looking for SITTERs in QA. On a re-look, the DI part B except for the hockey thing was frankly easy .. I know this is rich coming from a guy who tanked the test.

Somehow I still feel I can add an IIM-MBA to my resume. So I am gonna try again. I told myself and anyone else who would care to listen that I had two CATs left in me before this one. Again I feel I have two CATs left in me. Like Arun said, at some point it'll probably become irrelevant if I keep screwing up like this. One thing for sure, I am not going for any coaching class - I don't care if 2005 has same pattern and the coaching centers give a thousand strategies. IIMs owe it to the non coaching class junta to even out the battlefield, which they did this time with a beauty of a paper.
