can anyone help me out with question like

1)if it rains then i go there and have a party.
so what wud b the negation of this...

for further clarifications plz seek AIMCAT501..
i will be highly obliged if anyone comes to my rescue.

for eg wud the converse of prior statement also hold true..

i.e. i dint party and dint meet my frns that means it dint rain...

naah, correct negation is " I dint went there or had a party , then it dint rained"

lemme try to xplain this
the original statement says tht if it rains, then i go there and hav a party
wat this means is tht - if it rains , then i will definitely go ther and hav a party. It never says - if it doesnt rain, then i dont go there, even then i may or may not.

so if it is known tht i dont go there then only option left is the case in which it dint rained, coz had it rained i wud hav definitel gone there

"if i dont go there or dont have a party then it doesnt rain." is a CONCLUSION

I will try to explain the answer using LOGIC notations....

Given statement : "if it rains then i go there and have a party."

We have three statements with the relation

A -> ( B & C )

now negation of "a->b" is "a & ~b"

Hence here its

A & ~ ( B & C )

Again ~ ( B & C ) = ( ~B OR ~C )

Hence final statement will be

A AND ( ~B OR ~C )

In words,

It rained and I did not go there or have a party.

These are not expected in CAT since last few years..
Also LOGIC is usually very simple, only sometimes a bit confusing but never difficult.
