In a recent survey it was found that 97.3617 of total surveys in the world are outright lies or HOGWASH!
I wonder which bracket your stats fall in???????

Hi,
I am not yet familiar with the placement figures of last year so i wont be dealing with a lot with the numbers but only a few (<.05) get a salary in the zone you are insisting upon.
Another point is that though placements are very important to all of us here we do realise that it does not come for free....getting into an IIM is just the beginning...if you dont put in enough efforts here you loose your right to all these great mean median mode salary analysis...
from all my short experience i can say that the place is fair. Ultimately it is the guy who is ready for the good stuff that wins...that the preparation requires a lot of committment is another story )

It is correct that majority of IIM studs start with about 6 lacs or may be a bit more...It is also possible that a data entry op of Infosys might be worth more - if u take his stocks etc into account....But then IIM degree 'can' and 'may' open up lot of doors of corporate ladder in medium and long term, though it remains a fact that not everyone will be crorepati one day...

...I know 2 classmates of IITK passed out in early ninetees hopped few cos (and US) to join Adobe india, one heads the India operations ( a cool couple of crores), the other is a middle rung manager earning a tenth that much....neither is an MBA.

Money is not everything, the bottomline is that MBA 'may' give u a 'landscape' world view even in the short run - unlike the employee oreinted tech jobs (mostly not always)...and may help in the long run to rise to being a Mcnerie (HBS) , Banga (HLL/IIMA), or Raghuram (world bank) or a prof at any of the IIMs, giving u success and if u r lucky - an exponential extrpolation of the salary u started out with - I am quite sure Banga got about 5000 pm when he passed out of IIms which is not even half a percent of what he does now!

And yes tech career may give u more... many tech MNCs dont recruit MBAs......

.. finally MBA is bigger fad among Indian grads than among their counterparts in Europe or US...u have only to look at the no of applicants there to verify this..

If MBA cant get us a good salary..let it be so..
but it open doors to the closed orchards..
it is the "opportunity" to spend two years with the smartest people of india...
getting the chance to stand out from the crowd...
it is the chance...
if any one remembers the lines from spiderman 2 when DR.Octopus talks with spiderman abt intelligence and priviledges...quote them here...
we r here to prove ourselves(this is not the only way!)...test our limits...
and try to surpass them too...
