Can digital watches(with seconds) be used??? - 08-11-2004, 12:01 PM

Hi guyz

I am quite new to this site. I am highly concerned by the fact that the back of the admit card mentions that stop watches should not be used . I normally use 2 watches. An analog watch to know the overall time, and a digital watch for each section with stop timer. I am now quite used to seeing the seconds, and find it difficult to get used to an analog watch.
What I have now decided is to use the digital watch, but without using the stop timer, lest any examiner gets suspicious. Moderator and guyz plz tell me, if I can at least use a digital watch (with seconds)??

Although this depends on the personal discretion of the examiner, like some mite allow digital watches while some would not, I think its better to use analog ones and
avoid trouble altogether.
However that is my personal opinion.

Yes you can use a digital watch as long as it doesnt have any fancy stuff like databank and ofcourse a calculator.

I have used it thrice so I can vouch for it safely. Some more varied individuals are known to bring in more fanciful items like Alarm Clocks among others

Hi !!!

Digital watches err....the best thing dat happened to me in my CAT preps ..nudged me juss past the rope u mite say...

Well as far as i remember the CAT bulletin said something about "watches wid memory/calculator" so if u have a maha-simple watch, it shouldnt be a prblm...but u know some of these invigilators can be soo stupid...During my CAT this guy, whenever he passed me would give a stern look at my watch and it was soo unnerving...I almost, juss almost stopped short of screwing up damn Quanti...thankfully the guy went and slept off after an hour .

So, unless ur luck really runs riot on the day, it would be okay to use a digi-watch.

Best wishes
ranjan

Hi,

When it comes to watches,I would like to know about use of calculators. I see some students using calculators in mocks(still never get a rank). What if these ppl use calculators in real CAT? I know its almost impossible but these fellas are expert at it.

When it comes to taking risks this is one risk I would never ever take. Simply because u r playing into their hands. why do you want to take such a risk....what difference will it make....infact in such exams i think using a calc or trying to cheat will lead to more wastage of time.

so my advice is forget all such things and concentrate on exam.

ditto here.
one sol. is to keep the watch on your wrist so it seems innocuous. my dig looks like those retro. metal uglies so i think i'll be ok. some fancy s#*t may attract attention.
