hi misha

Mission DI...

i first figured out d reasons for my dismal DI scores.

1) i made 2 many calculations.
2) cudnt identify d sitters.
3) dint read ques. left some sets jus by looking at graphs.

with these in mind, i set out taking 20min tests in DI having 25 ques.
things i did differently...

1) read all questions.
2) dint miss d sitters...theres always 1 sitter in a set and also d counting-typr problems(used to screw 'em up too).
3) dint calc actual percentages. went by choices. this really improved my speed.
4) in ques requiring comparisons, i compared fractions rather than their decimal equivalents.

not only did my speed improve, so did my accuracy. i was able to do 16-18 ques in 20 min.
this gives me 15 min for LR and 5 min for DS. so my overall attempts in DI/LR (in CRTs) have been consistently at 22-25 with max 3 errors (errors had been my biggest prob...used to be like 17 attempts 7 errors etc.)

i know my scores arent great but im confident of putting up a decent show on 21st Nov because i still have time to work on inc my attempts and also my accuracy is on the higher side. this is weakest section so im only looking at clearing the cut-off comfy.

I would like to maximise my VA/RC score. I think im good at it but im making too many errors(30-32 attempts with 10-12errors, all the time) any suggestions?

hope u find this of some use.
thanks ev.....hey even i've tried elimination but since i've been using calculator all my life, dont get much success in that method.......have me prac cat today.....will try to implement your pointers there....hope they work for me too.........acuuracy's a problem for me too.....in the easiest of the easiest papers i attmept 25-26 but accuracy's never >80%..........you get scores of 22-25.....my target is just 22.......

hey i took up mission english some time back.......my inferrences:
1) dont take too many risks....if you think you are not sure of an answer, better leave...attempt it again in the last if you want..........dont leave those in which you have a small doubt...leave the ones in which you are getting a 50-50 probability for two questions.......
2) go to 1.
hope it helps

even w/o taking any risks, i screwed up VA in aimcat518. those that seemed obvious while taking the test ended being wrong. with all d prep i've been doing, i hv messed up di as well.

Well as far as identifying the sitters go..
what i will suggest is that rather than stereotyping a maths chapter to be difficult and deeming all its questions to be tough..just quickly go though the questions nd then decide if its worth doing..
also suppose u get a 3 marks quant question then inveesting 5 mins over it is worth till u get it correct..
best of luck,
God Bless..!!

strongly agree...
even in di, we need to be very patient and willing to spend inital 2-3 minutes for analyzing the set and then cracking the questions. This we sometimes tend to miss in exam environment... or maybe simply mess up with them. its always better to sit down and crack the set at home without any time limits to enable you to build confidence and patience very much required.
