As we get nearer to CAT, my mind is occupied with everything, but CAT. So this is just n offshoot from one of the thought procesess.

Right now, when we give our mock cats and aimcats and simcats and stuff, we are competing with, say, 15000 students. Plus there must be a lot of students who would have joined more than 1 test series. So all in all, roughly, there must be say maximum 50000 students who would have joined some coaching instuitute or the other.
Now say if someone manages a rank of around 400-500 in cl mocks, or say 200 in ims and 500 in time, then aggregatively he would be somewhere in the top 2000 out of those 50000. the formula for calculating %iles is no. of ppl- rank/ no. of ppl*100.
The number of ppl giving cat would be around 175000. so what i am saying is that right now we are competing with pretty much the best minds, right? and if we stand in the top 2000 now, then in the actual cat, we could manage a rank of say 3000( considering there must be some ppl who have not joined anything and are still IIM calibre). so our percentile, which now is 50000-2000/50000*100= 96, becomes 175000-3000/175000*100= 98+.!!!!!
What say? i know its pretty approximate and vry optimistic but still.......
any loop holes???

highly optimistic man but then no harm in calculating this..just a thought...dat why ru actually thinkin abt this right now..we all know that we all are competing against the best minds but then i gave it thought that whenever i used to think in these lines i lost my focus on wat i had to do..just remember one thing dat at the end of it all...ur just competing with ur ownself in terms of fear, anxiety etc and u just need to belive that there's just one seat for u ..

Absolutely no use pressurizing urself more. Already u have enuf to contend with. If u can keep ur calm then u can win the race. Abt the percentiles things, surely ur percentile will increase by the amount u mentioned. But u can think abt all these after u write CAT. So juz think abt nothing else fr next 16 days. Fr me its unlikely though as i have end semester exams till 16th and only 4 days i can give my mind exclusive CAT concentration

Hmmm. But CAT CAT the whole day gets a little too oo oo much. dont you think? This is when your mind, which has been forced to think analytically over the past months, tends to divert to these topics. Gives me a feeling of relief when i am totally down by my cl percentiles... yes i agree that cat shud be the focus but still, it was worth a thought, right???

well i guess 'why' has a point here...though it isnt clear the number of people ... keeping aside the part abt not 'worrying abt "these things"'... how about the loopholes.. all the engineers and mr peoople giving cat out there?? do baaanto some gyan... honestly, will try and help those who need inner motivation to bolster themselves at bad times.. which for peple like me is nearly everytime the simcat scores are out
