AIMCAT517....15 down, 3 to go!!

Hi friends,

Cant we add a poll here like the one we have for the thread SIMCAT6? AIMCAT 517 went off well I think I performed better than my previous AIMCATS(not better than all of them but for sure from some of them).
I found DI tough.(anyone else?). Some questions were easy but involved lengthy calculations(like the one on 2 and 4 wheelers). That gifts question I thought it was easy n I am getting the answers right but I got 2 answers wrong there. LR didnt have a fair share( Do these TIME n IMS ppl discuss n set questions?:->)

VA was very much word based. Many direct questions on vocabs n many inferential(like the fill in the blancks). My VA performance was ok. RC was good. As it is in TIME RCs are easier.(less inferential more direct)

Quants was easy for a change or maybe I could find out the easier ones(for a change!).

Overall I would rate the paper "AVERAGE".

luck i feel is very crucial with eu...
its hard to "not mark" answers in this section ..and if luck helps...things look
very rosy and otherwise..its down in the dumps time..
today ..i was expectinog to get qns 26-30 all correct..ended up with 4 mistakes...
but i have decided that whatever happens in the mockcats..I AM GOING TO ANSWER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IN ENGLISH..think we shud leave somethings to instinct
and hope thgt fortune favours the brave.

Couldnt agree with you more, I left 3 VA and 2 RC unmarked because I didnt went by my instinct, and all 5 turned out to be right

but with cat va/rc..i get a bit of theism..
trust my instincts and hope that there is a god above to rescue me...
.but seriously..i think..especially if u r a kind of person..who reads a lot..
good stuff...fiction or non fiction...
say zen and art ..,stuff like that....read papers, magazines regularly thenu shud
be taking ur chances with tihs section..

Yup, 517 was a bit on the tougher side.... I made some real silly errors in RCs.
VA/RC : 37/9 34 .. 45 mins
QA : 22/9 19 ... 45 mins
DI : 25/9 22 ... 30 mins

I am ending up giving less time to the section I attempt in the end these days. Gotta be more disciplined.

Hello all

Me guessed it right that the paper would be a sick one.

Started off with jus 35 for VA RC section. A bad strategy of marking in the question paper first and then copying it down to the OMR in the fag end of the paper made me feel after 35 minutes that I did some 35+ qs in the section(worst estimation!).

Went to quant and did jus 20 qs in 35-40 minutes and then to DI, and later attacked a couple of DS....

With just 5 minutes left, I was in the worst position as far as any mock cat taker would be in. Not a single oval darkened in the OMR , 5 minutes left.

Believe me, I found it really tough. The last 30 seconds or so, I had my fingers trembling.... Missed to mark a VA question. (sure I haven't marked it on the OMR).

The above scores are on the markings on my paper(with a hope that I have marked all the oned marked on the question paper except the said one VA q).

Ended up with a bad score as usual.
