Can Those Already Studying in In IIMs Tell Me The Realistic Scores For 99+ Percentiles to get calls

CAN THOSE ALREADY STUDYING IN IIMs TELL ME THE REALISTIC SCORES FOR *99 + PERCENTILES IN INDIVIDUAL SECTIONS to get calls from IIMs?

guys i saw a thread about pgites posting their percentiles in CAT 2003. i wud like to know the actual scores so that i know what to target. Also hav there been cases of any people gettin 99%iles in 2 sections and 90%ile in the third, getting calls and making it to IIMs?

Hi,

These topics anyways have been discussed ad naeseum on the forum in different threads. Please go through the sticky called CAT score-cards which is one of the best resources you can ever find regarding expected marks/percentile scores/no of calls.

I am sorry to take your post as an example. But just to point it out to junta that if your questions are vague and ambiguos they will not elicit responses for the simple reason that no one would know what you are asking for in the first place.

But I think I got the drift of what you were getting at, so here is a short and sweet answer. 98.8%+ile to have a realistic shot at any IIMs. And yes, plenty of examples of junta cracking 99+ in 2 sections and 90 in the third and getting as many as 3 calls (chandoo IIM-I batch of 2006)

hi,
there is NO realistic score unless you are a 100%..
IIMA for example gave calls at 98%+ and not to a 99.96%...
But 99.99 seems to me as a good target!
Keep in mind that YOU cant influence your % by getting anxious....just go out there and do your best and for that you must practice to be at your best...the higher you score the better it is for your chances in final conversions too...
If you already are in 97% + league you just need to maintain your focus on the DDay...trust me anything can happen if you are in the mood then!

What are my chances of getting any IIM call.

Kindly reply based on last years criterian.

see if u have a 99 in quant it is something like say a score of 20 and a 99 again in DI is a score of 20...and a score of 90 in verbal is probably 18 or even less . according to last years.....
this is a net of 58 and u may not get all calls....but if u have a 99 in verbal the net goes up by more than 10 marks and bang u have BLACKI.....the importance of verbal can never be highlighted more......oldtimers correct me if iam wrong...

You may or may not get a call.
We have coupla people in our batch with such scores (99.5+ in 2 sections, and less in other etc), but I know a LOT of them who didnt get calls with such scores. Best bet is to get 95+% in all sections, and smash in one or two sections. You might manage anywhere between 2 and 6 calls.

But if you are interested in the lowest possible scores that fetch a call - guys have got calls with 98+ in 2 sections, and even as less as 85% in one section. One or two such people got calls from I and/or K. But then, they would've probably had a fundoo CV to boot!

you can totally manage all six calls even if you screw up one section ,provided you clear the cutoff's and get a gr8 percentile,there's a guy i know in IIMA who scored a measly 82% in quant but cracked the verbal section getting a total % of 99.94 and getting all the six calls.

Interesting. Are you sure ? To the best of my knowledge, from the statistics we have on the forum that should be in a category termed as "theoretically impossible"

So, if someone from A can actually corroborate this, should be wonderful.

AS far as i remember if u can get 99% in verbal then u stand a very good chance if u can notch up 95+ in say di and with even 70 odd in QA. Such is the power of VA. Vice versa or any other combination will not work. This is the reason that i once mentioned that cat 2004 will be 3 sectioner this wud mean it wud even up the proceedings and give a maths or english lover an equal chance. IIM wud have sure analyzed this fr long time and come to a conclusion and so dont u worry guys. Its fr this reason i believe its a 3 sectioner.

Okay Mr.Nostradamus, I think a 70%ile alone in QA will not get the calls. I would love to be wrong, but this is what I have known from statistics.

As far as the "power of VA" goes, I agree last year saw some very high VA scores. But in 2002, Phillip managed a 100%ile even without being in the top 1%ile in Verbal. He had some obscenely huge scores in QA (38 or something). So let us not discount those scoring strongly in QA-DI.
