Are the CAT papers anything like the PT prac cat papers? The PT papers run into almost 40 to 45 pages with nearabout 30% of the page kept blank for rough work....

Is there enuf space in the actual CAT question paper for calculations?? - 22-10-2004, 01:22 PM

Hey guys
This is my query to those who have taken CAT atleast once.
Is there enuf space for doing calculation!!!!!

Space for calculation is critical when it comes to solve question in DI invloving drawing tables,in quant geomety....etc
All of us are aware that all coaching classes are stingy in giving more space....they tend to cram all the questions in one page...I dont know why they do it ....my guess is to save paper!!!! or it cud be to instill in us the need for doing questions mentallly!!!

Usually there are 2 or 3 empty pages at the end of the paper (or maybe 1 at the end of every section) for doing the rough work.

Fikar not, there is a LOT of space available for calculations in the CAT paper. Its not as closely packed as the SIMS and AIMS. Trust me , you will run out of time before you run out of paper

Yups, loads of space in the paper. For people who have a tendency to do a lot of calculation, a word of advice, write with pencil only, and write faintly on the paper (and not scratch into the paper). That way even if u run out of space (highly unlikely) you can always erase your working easily.
Also, if u have only a few more questions in di/qa section; you would most probably not use the blank space in the verbal section, so u can always use that for your calculations (this is what i did). All da best guys, one more month to go! crack maadi!

Sanjeev Garuda

hey guys...

agreein with the people out here....2 imp things...the section on DI - espectially LR needs some good amount of space...so LR can be done behin as dubeyji has suggested...DI requires space as far as SIMCATs are concerned coz they have calculation heavy DI...just checked out this week's DI section of simcat 5 and there were hardly 2 or 3 questions from the full Di (not LR) section with no calculations necessary...

another imp thing i gotto remember is to write nos etc clearly while solvin a prob as we can mistaken 7 for 1 etc...such errors are best if avoided...

Ashish

what if i were to tear out these blank pages (at the end) and use them as i go along - i dont want to be flippin between pages?
would anyone complain?
