CL FLT 5 aka CAT 1997

Just done with the test. Very easy but for DI .... horrible... no LR, plain DI and hardly sitters at that.

I did it 5 min short of the alloted time coz that would be the time taken for bubbling the answers... fair enuf I guess.

Now I have major issues in the EU and RC sections here... when you're done with this test, just put the fuzzy/debatable Qs on this thread.

I had got 124.25 in flt 5(cat 1997) and its the highest score I have in any of the mocks given till date...Had an attempt of 172 with a modest accuracy but I dont remember the sectional distribution..

I gave the test now. Here are my scores. The paper, except DI , was really easy.

Started with DI ... 22 mins initially and 3 mins towards the end. Total 25 mins.
20 attampts ... 18 correct ... 2 wrong ... score 17.5

Then did verbal for 27 mins.
41 attempts ... 36 correct ... 5 wrong ... score 34.75

RC ... 33 mins. Did the last 4 passages almost completely and attempted 3 from the first passsage.
39 attempts ... 34 correct ... 5 wrong ... score 32.75

Quant ... 35 mins.
35 attempts ... 32 correct ... 3 wrong ... score 31.25

Total 135 attempts ... 120 correct ... 15 wrong ... score 116.25


DI was indeed tough, and without sitters. But you could still get questions to attempt.
The first set was easy. In the second set, the graph was special, and 1995 was a very common answer. Set 3 could be done.
Sets 4 and 5 were tough ... but they had a few easy picks like 176, 177 and 184.
But the cutoff they gave, 16, is atrocious. I don't think in a 30 question , tough section, it can possibly be more than 12.

I have doubts about two answers.
Q 111 ... n should divide 6. But there are 8 such numbers ... -6,-3,-2,-1,1,2,3,6. It is not mentioned n > 0. They even, inexplicably, left out n = 6.

Q 122 ... It is mentioned that everybody watches atleast one channel. So their solution is wrong as it says 13 % people don't watch any. If you assume, as they say, that number of people watching exactly 2 channels is 0, and those watching all 3 is x %, then 80 + 22 - x + 15 - x = 100, which gives x = 8.5 %

Supervish, RC was easy ... but still, how could you attempt 48 in just 23 mins yaar.

I agree ... abt Q 111, it never said POSITIVE integers

Abt RC : i can read very fast.... the catch is i dont note spellings and stuff... so in real reading i look foolish but RCs mein it works

Hey guys, which FLT are you talking about exactly?
I've collected FLT 5 from the CL centre, and it's a 2 section paper with 165 questions (so it cannot be CAT 1997 either).

I wish we had a paper this year (2004) with as much stress on English as CAT 1997 (and equally easy quant). Mazaa aa gaya!
