What does each IIM want?

IIM, the dream institute of almost all the candidate appearing for CAT.
we the population of 2 lakth and IIM can select only few of us.
the thing that i think IIM really looks for is a real manager.
a man who is very well balanced in all aspects....
he must be some one not only intellegent in academic , but also well balanced in the exposure to the world...
a intellegent but SHY guy can no where be in the competition..
the main thing that i think they look for is HOW WELL A CANDIDATE PERFORM IN STRESS.
IIM only selects those students who fits in their picture of a IIM ALUMNI.
they can fore seen that whether that particular candidate is able to achieve those hieghts which he is dreaming of after entering in their institure..
they are more practical than theoretical approach for choosing...

In short , CAT TESTS EVERYONE and IIM SELECTS THE BEST !!!!

sir , how do they decide as applicants wud be frm diff boards

for example me .

X=87% (ICSE) and XII(93%) ISC ....????
how do they compare this to other boards...
and what abt the engg marks ...my cllg NIT,allahabad(MNREC) ....doesn't giv CPI to %age conversion,......how wud u rate 10/10 as 100 % then as per rules...???
or in my case 8/10 as 80%????

But since you are a newbie I hope puys won't mind. First of all...Welcome aboard

I would like to answer your query to the best of my knowledge. IIMs have a huge database of results from various boards (including the state boards) and they have a pretty fair idea of the difficulty level of each board as far as scoring marks is concerned. So u can leave this worry to rest as the IIMs won't give any undue preference to say Mr. X scoring 95% in a relatively easy state board over Mr. Y scoring 80% in a not-so-easy-to-score state board

Regarding CGPA to percentage conversion :- All I know is that every college has some or the other formulae to convert a CGPA to absolute percentage. You can contact the Acads office at your college and ask for the same. Whatever be the rule you can get a certificate to that effect. Even if its CGPA*10 at your college...its always better to have a certificate reflecting the same.
