How much the brand name matters in work ex to get into IIMs??

Hi,

Saw a couple of threads with comparisons b/w companies and their brand names...
so obvious question came to my mind again:-

Does brand name like Infy/TCS works in IIM intws???
Or when we say brand name matters, we mean that it would help in long run,after MBA,and in placements in IIM?

Asking this question because I started thinking it doesnt matter after my IIM intws last yr.....6 outta 9 ppl had wrok ex>3 yrs in Infy itself. I had <1 yr!!

So interviewers were least interested in my Infy work ex....understandably so....

I believe now that all which matters is the quality of work ex u have rather than the brand name of the company.... Wroking in a good startup, taking more responsibility, seeing the nascent stage of a co. gives more exposure to corp world....

Anyone differs???

No it does not matter.

A good percentage of ppl who appear for interviews are from Infy , wipro etc. So theres nothing special abt being in Infy.

It might help you in lateral placements tho

Hi,
Its the quality of your work ex which may matter.
How you come up during the interview viz-a-viz your learning at work is of importance.
Brand name : the company should be recognized one..and that too does not matter much.

You learn more about the industry as you work so exp > 2 years..you may bs a lot about the challenges in your org and blah blah blah...

I dont believe a brand name would matter much ... especially if your work profile is good .. and you have actually been sincere in your work ...

If you have 10 people around you from say, Infy, Wipro, TCS .... it could make us a bit jittery ...

But then going by some of the people who get into these companies ... i think a good 2 year exposure at a decent enough company will do the trick.

Dont think that all the graduates being served out can be accomadated in the top companies .. so dont worry .. crack the CAT .. and then give a good GD / PI
