IIM C for one gives dual specialiasation. Infact,if of course you are ready to work some, u can finally land up with Two majors and 1 minor...well thats the max u can have
Yes there is a diff in Dual and Major Minor thing. Dual is majoring in two feilds, while a minor is what u get for , tho u have not done a major, u have done some min amount of courses in the feild.
IIM C for one gives dual specialiasation. Infact,if of course you are ready to work some, u can finally land up with Two majors and 1 minor...well thats the max u can have
well how does one enrol for such a course (in case of IIMs)...is it thru CAT or is there some separate procedure.
MDI allows u to have dual specialisaition ... which is totally upto ur discretion!!
for doing dual spec., u dont need to give any enterance exam as such... rather u just choose the subjects in second year... and if u choose a minimum no. os electives of a particular field and clear the exams.. u get that specialisation also!!
Moreover MDI allows u dual degree whereby, when u go out of India for a students' exchange program & u finish one trimester there, u can go back to that college again after ur final placements & complete one more trimester in the same college & the foreign college will give you its own MBA degree to you (though this tie up is not with every student-exchange partner colleges abroad)!!!
ICFAI also offers Dual spl.
Each student has to choose eight electives. While four electives have to be choosen from one single stream, the other four electives can be chosen from the same or any other stream in any combination.
In order to specialize in any stream, a student has to pursue at least four electives from that stream. Thus a student can also have dual specialization by choosing four electives from one stream and another four from the second stream.
The Program offers further flexibility in terms of Optional Free Electives, which are not an essential part of the graduation requirement. But the students can opt for up to 2 Optional Free Electives from any of the streams.

Everyone plays THE big gamble of their life, but once. Have you put yourself at stake yet?
thanx a ton for your replies. i kinda suspected that the "major-minor" option is "hatke" from the "dual specialization" option. now u've confirmed it.
now comes another related question (as ya see i'm always confused). in terms of placements, etc. is it a bad thing to opt for a dual specialisation. i've sorta decided that i want to opt for a Marketing-Fin combo. just wondering if that comes across as disconnected & confused. i think i have valid reasons for my decision but wanted to get a third party's view on this. does it show lack of focus or nything?
Be some1 with a broad smile; try to be happy all the while; when things go wrong do not get blue; just smile 'n say, i will get thru...
