Please use this thread to resolve any queries and doubts regarding admissions for Batch 2010-12 of NIASoM, Pune. We will try our level best to help you out with details regarding the entire process and provide you with all the information you need about NIASoM.
Here are some details related to the admission process taken from our website :
Eligibility:
A graduation degree or equivalent from any recognized Indian/Foreign university with a minimum of 50% marks at graduation level. Students appearing for final year can aply subject to completion of their examination requirements by June 30, 2010.
Selection based on:
- Performance in CAT 2009 (NIASoM is a participating member of IIM conducted CAT examination)
- Performance in GD
- Personal Interview
- Relevant work experience
- Past academic record

I have following queries :
1. Institute website still shows last date to apply 15 Feb 2009 
2. Fee structure field is blank there so could you tell me exact fee
structure including hostel expenses, overseas study tour, lappy etc ?
3. Last years cut-off and since Work ex is counted,should Freshers apply ?
Could you also please tell me whats the current batch profile, How many of
them are freshers ?

Hi Apoorv.
[1] The forms for NIA are not yet out but they will be out in a few days. The website is in the process of being updated with the new details. That is why it still shows the last date to apply as 15 Feb 2009.
[2] Fees for the 2009-11 batch was Rs. 5,00,000 inclusive of hostel and mess charges. But this fee structure may be revised this year, so you can expect it to increase.
[3] Last year calls were given based on the overall profile. The percentile most of the students here is in the range of 80-90 but there are people with percentiles as high as 96 and lowest must be somewhere in early 70's.
As far as the batch profile is concerned, it is a very vibrant batch with people from almost all kinds of industries. You can see the entire batch profile on our website. Freshers constitute 67% of the 2009-11 batch.

Hi, in the institute's website I checked that,person's having work-ex in INSURANCE sectors will have an added advantage over others,I was sooo pleased to see that  ,is it really true???Actually I am working in INDIABULLS FINANCIAL SERVICES LTD. as a RELATIONSHIP MANAGER(my field is INSURANCE sector) for the past 2.5 months & during the start of the session will have around 10 months of experience...so will that Insurance sector work -ex really do any favour to me in d gd-pi in case I actually manage to get a call...  By the way plzz say hi to ABISHEK of 2nd yr,if you know him...

Of course I know Abhishek. Will greet him on your behalf. 
And yes you will have an added advantage as work experience is given 10% weightage in the shortlisting process. Also there is a 5% weightage for insurance qualification. You can check the next post for last year's selection process details.

2009-11 Batch Selection process details:
Level 1 : Applications are invited from candidates who have taken CAT examinations.
Level 2 : Candidates are shortlisted based on ranking of four attributes for a total score of 100.
1. CAT score – 60% weightage
2. Previous academic record –25% weightage
3. Work experience – with special weightage given for experience in insurance and financial services related fields – 10% weightage
4. Insurance Qualification – 5% weightage
Level 3 : Shortlisted Candidates are called for Group Discussions. The following parameters are considered for Group Discussions for a total score of 50:
1. Communication Skills : 20% weightage
2. Personality Trait : 20% weightage
3. Leadership Skills : 20% weightage
4. Analytical Ability : 20% weightage
5. Content : 20% weightage
Level 4 : Shortlisted candidates, after Group Discussion, are called for Personal Interview before a four member Selection Panel. The following parameters are considered for Personal Interview for a total score of 150:
a. Subject Knowledge & Confidence Level : 16.66% weightage
b. Mathematical & Quantitave Ability : 10% weightage
c. General awareness : 10% weightage
d. General Personality/Intuitive Personality : 10% weightage
