Hello Fellas,

Lemme introduce myself ,M Harkeerat and i've appeared for CAT a couple of times ,grad'td {(B.com (honours)} in 2008,my CAT score sucks (50 percentile both the times).

As you wud guess by now I cud;nt get into a decent enuf college and in the meantime I've worked with Deloitte Consulting (hyd) for a period of lil over 13 months. Last year (academic yr 2009) ,I secured admission in ISBM (Nande, Pune) but had to cancel my admission for reasons m 2 embarrased to expalain,However this year again m on the lookout for a decent enuf coll to get into,now m not at all optimistic about any of the Entrance tests as m no gud with Quants & DI (basically numbers) nor is my english that damn gr8.

But what I'm certainly gud at is GD/PI thing, once i get through the written stuff I'm pretty confident that 8 out of 10 times I'l scrape through the GD/PI.

Hey need to mention here that i was also selected for IBS (Mumbai) but did'nt go for it.I dont know why ?

So all i'm askin is for some sane ADVICE,

? Shud I go abroad and do my MBA ,if yes where and how ?

? are there any coll's which stress upon GD/PI more than the written test for admision ?

? Can i just attempt the verbal part in CAT '09 and keep my fingers crossed to get into a decent (Stress on decent placements) college

? or shud i just forget abt MBA and conecentrate on my work ( Please dont say yes to this )

Guyz honestly any sort of advice wud be appreciated

Hello Boss, the match isnt over till the last ball is bowled..
I am Akshay, i attempted CAT last year, and got a 93.39 percenttile. sounds all fancy, but i did it with zero preparation.

I am a complete DUD at all things mathematical.. I just cant comprehend numbers.. Just got 15 and 10 marks in Quant and DI last year, but had a 69 in Verbal

I still am in the same boat as you are. there are plenty of great colleges like KJ Somaiyya, Welingkar, IMT Ghaziabad, SPjain, etc. which dont stress on sectional cutoffs if you have a good enough overall percentile. but none of these colleges are too easy to get in.

I converted my calls from KJ and Welingkar last year, but didnt join. As you said, god knows why!!! Either it was my stupidity, or fate wants me to be elsewhere.

Going abroad is not a great option at the moment for obvious reasons. Plus the initial cost is a huge deterrant for me atleast, i dunno about you.

Quite a lot of colleges give as low as 30% weightage to CAT scores and almost 70% to other criteria, including Work-Ex, prior Acads, and GD PI..

But everything said and done, still you have ONE WHOLE MONTH to CAT, which is the one of the first exams of the season.. there are plenty of other exams lined up..
With 2+ months of hardcore prepartation, who knows!! maybe you could get into say Jamnalal Bajaj!!

Everything said and done, its not a great idea to depend on your verbal scores alone. We have Sachin Tendulkar, who is the worlds best batsman, but can we dream of going to a world cup with him and 10 bowlers???
