Hi,

I am a graduate in banking and insurance from Mumbai University and currently working as a research associate at JPMorgan. I am also appearing at CFA level 1 this December. What are the test score that Praxis accept. Also what weightage would be given to my academic records and work-experience.

hi Rakesh,

To answer your first query, the cut-offs for Praxis aren't binding. Its the overall profile which counts. So, we have students who had scored 98-99 percentiles in the CAT/XAT exams that they had appeared for, as also, we have students who have a 75 percentile in CAT but with very strong extracurricular record (Bengal State Table Tennis Champion). But a score above 85 percentile shall definitely stand you in good stead!

Also the weightages given to academics and work-experience varies every year. So, it is very difficult to predict the same at this point of time. A final call in this regard shall be taken once we have received the applications for GD/PI and have finalized the probable composition of the upcoming batch. In your case, if you have a strong academic record backed by an equally good and quality work-ex, consider your chances to be bright in fetching a GD/PI call.

What are the 3 cycles for intake as mentioned in the website? I want to know what is the difference between these and how many students are admitted in each of these?

hi pguser,

well as far as the three cycles are concerned, they are timed to consider students with good percentiles from the three entrances that Praxis considers, i.e., CAT, XAT, GMAT. even if u look at the timings of the three cycles, they are in the months of Jan/Feb (when CAT results are declared), Mar/Apr (When XAT results are out, and May (When GMAT-APR results are out). number of student intake in each of the cycles is something that depends purely on the profiles and the performances of the applicants in the mentioned cycles and there isn't any fixed number assigned to it. But of course, there would be seats for good applicants in each of the three cycles...

Hi pguser,

well the programs offered in Praxis are post graduate programs in the areas of:

1. Marketing
2. Finance
3. IT
4. Operations
5. HR.

Plus we have areas of concentration in the following two areas:

1. Retail Management
2. Risk and Treasury Management

In Praxis, during the first year, a student is taken across subjects from across the streams and it is only during the second year that he gets to choose electives from the specialization of his choice. Plus a student can pick electives from across specializations...so one can dual specialize. For instance, i have my electives from the areas of Marketing Management and Operations and hence I am specializing, in the second year, in the afore mentioned two fields.

Praxis B Schools forms sale has started from November 1, 2009. You may pick up the form from any IMS centre.

You may also use the PG Apps on Pagalguy and apply to Praxis. Praxis microsite can be visited on:
