Can u please tell us about the required Cutof?? How was the placement2009(detail).

Hi,
SoMS NITC is offering an MBA exclusive for engineers. The intake is just 30 out of which 15 seats are under OBC/SC/ST quota. The admission for 2010-12 is based on the CAT score (no JMET this year) and weightage will be given for work experience. The selection will be made on the basis of five factors including:
1. CAT score
2. Work Experience
3. Academics
4. Group Discussion
5. Personal Interview

There wont be any sectional cut offs. Only the overall CAT percentile matters. 25% of the current batch are freshers. So that doesn't mean that you need to have work experience.

Hi,
The current batch (2009-11) is the very first batch of SoMS, NITC. The intake is just 30 engineers. Cut off for this year has not been decided. Last year (2009-11), almost 80% (12 out of 15) of the students in General category has a CAT %ile > 80.

All that matters is your weightage score of CAT + Work Exp + Academics + GD + PI

Regarding the placements, we are optimistic about landing in a safe arena.

could u please inform us about when to apply for SOMS NIT CALICUT....i.e...after getting CAT scores like the other IIT's or before CAT result only

Hi Krishna,
SoMS NITC follows the similar pattern as that of other IITs. The window for the application will be open by mid December till mid February. So you can wait till your CAT results are out. The last date for submitting the application will be 15th Feb (tentative). The whole process will be on-line, and you'll have to take a print out of the filled form from the website and send it so that it reaches NITC by Feb 15th.
The possible GD/PI centres will be
New Delhi
Kolkata (yet to confirm)
Mumbai
Hyderabad
Calicut

A couple of cities also may be added to the list.

Hi Krishna,
I'm here with a quicker reply now
Already we have decided about hyderabad and calicut. Still thinking about more centres in south. A decidion is yet to be made about this. Chennai and Bengaluru has equal chances as of now. The distance between NITC and Bengaluru (it takes just 7.5 hrs by bus) is a real disadvantage for the city, as Calicut is a sure venue for GD/PI under any conditions
