Did anyone approach Q.55 in a way other than the ones mentioned in solution:

If n is an odd multiple of 3, in how many ways 2 ^ n can be expressed as the product of 3 factors?

CAT 08: 94.68
QA: 93.xx, DI: 89.xx, VA: 85.xx

DID anyone do the Question 34 from DI section of ramesh

1 Mark Q 2 Mark Q Scored Qa 60 20 60 Di 40 5 30 DS 80 15 15 VA 80 30 45 RC 80 10 75 LA 60 20 75 the min number of 1 marks Q that could be attempted would be
60+30+15+45+75+59 (59 because of marks in LA)
which is summing up to 286
but in the solutions its given as 284
something wrong in what i did ???

yes u made an error that is one o the most common around called the 'addition' error!! ur values r right and they add up to 284 not 286. Mark that down as a silly mistake

Puys..
Some of my doubts in this aimcat are:
1) DI SET--Q 29-33 doubt is------->> how they got so much of explanation from point (ii).. none of A, B , C picked the same ball..... (plz explain me time's approach or your own)

2) Question Num 55.. albeit i am quite comfortable in cat number system but the question was a nightmare and solution was bigger than that
3) Problems on escalators.. 59 & 60.. there must be an another easier approach of the question..

plz discuss..
thanks in advance..

Hi, The chotu Motu thinng was lil tough to digest during the exam...

But the logic goes thus:

Chotu Can identify Apples n Oranges...
n Motu can identify ...the rest (i don rem)

but.. the catch point lies in the fact that Chotu might identify watermelons as apples...

and Motu might identify Apples as mangoes (or watermelons or...)

So.. the only fact point comes in the columns where there is "1" apple/orange identified by Chotu or..."1" watermelon/mango identified by Motu...

hmm... sounds tricky.. but once u realize things get simpler...

The Solution of DI QNo.24 should be option 2 and not option1.
Kindly correct me if i am wrong.

Re: AIMCAT 1006 Scores,Discussions(Please don't open if you have not taken the test) - 12-11-2009, 02:45 PM

Pls tell me where i'm going wrong.

A said to B, I am four times as old as you were, when I was as old as you are now. If the sum of their ages in years is 104, find the age of B.
the answer is 40.

this is how i tried.

a,b. present ages.
A was b years old x years back.

so a-x=b
x=a-b
ages of A and B x years back were a-(a-b) and b-(a-b)
hence, b and 2b-a

since A was four times as old as B were, b=4(2b-a) so, 7b=4a
a+b=104
7b/4 + b = 104
11b= 416
b= 37.81..
how?

Moreover, if B is 40 years old now, then A=64.
A was 40 years old 24 years back. and then B was 16.
but four times 16 is 64.

----------------------------------------
understood my mistake.
many thanks to freakinda.
