Hi all,
Plz solve my query.
I am a Btech ME passed out in 2008.I got a job in construction company Afcons but I left it as I wanted to prep for CAT.I worked in Supply chain Management company Corbus in BPO process(Not a call centre)(you can take it as back office work) for 5 months and now am giving PO exams (and of course CAT is the ultimate goal) and have cleared Federal,UBI and Pnb Prelims.
I am not working presently.What are my chances in NIBM.Or I should go for PO and then CAT.
Please advise how will my profile affect my admission into NIBM.
In PO intw will it be a bad impression if I am not working anywhere.

In General :-
Guys, NIBM is a pretty easy going college (not to take away anything from my dear Alma-mater ).
And for it not marketing aggressively enough, is certainly undervalued for few more years. So all the minor issues of :-

• Low sectionals in CAT
• Average/Below average academics
• Break years
• wrong side of age bracket

can be compensated by a sincere and decent interview at NIBM.Infact I know many cases in each of the mentioned category above.
So I'll suggest you all to apply to NIBM (assuming you are interested in banking/finance) to increase your safety level. Coz if selected to other institute/s which you feel is better, you can always drop NIBM pre/post interview.
Any prediction of selection chances beyond this should be considered "speculation".

seniors. great work done. my query is i am 26 years old and having 2 year work experience in construction sector. my query is when do the PSU and banks come for placements at nibm as i would be 28 years old in dec 2011 . does criteria of 28 years apply to me or not.as in most b school companies come around october nov. only.thanks

As per the schedule of academic activities provided to us,Placements for our batch would be held in 1 week of march 2011..As per my talk with college authorities regarding maximum age criteria,anyone above 28 yrs at the time of placements would fnd it difficult in many PSBs,but still there are many PSBs whose criteria in this context are very flexible..u can also expect few private banks participation..
and also for 28 yrs criteria u r just crossing the border so i dont think that there would be much of problem..
and to end this would say that ur chances of placement(if u r in NIBM) would be equal to chance of Sun rising in the east...

u need to practice a lot if u want to get calls from some top B schools in India..still u have about a month left for ur D-day...so all the best for that..
yeah..syllabus has been modified a lot and we ll be taken through more detailed study of the subjects..( as per our dean sir...)
regarding placements , it is still unclear how changing into 2 year format will affect it..we r the 1st batch into it so lets see wat comes out of this experiment...!!!

Sarkari form hai yaar, thoda thande dimaag se bhar do, afterall NIBM ka form bhi to kisi bank transfer form se hi inspire hoga
Don't worry about these minute things much they are nothing more than hygiene factor at most.

so does that mean that what i assumed or meant earlier is correct one
reply .......... it must have been inspired by some sarkari bank ,,,,,, so they will definitely get hurt if i assume something wrong or mention something wrong in the application form .... please reply what i am supposed to fill......

Its good to take care of minute things but in the corporate world one should think more of the "bigger picture"
Anyways...I think tht you were right...you need to fill in the DESIGNATION of the person you were reporting to....eg: Manager or senior manager.....and in case you were reporting to two different pple belonging to two different profiles then write the profile of the person with higher designation in your co's hierarchy......this is waht I did in my time and....no one was hurt

hey..
the 2 year course is more oriented towards synchronising the course to a regular management course besides learning banking and finance.....
earlier one year course was only focused on banking n finance subjects...
but in two year course the syllabus includes developing competencies in fields like marketing, HR, IT besides learning banking and finance..
as far as percentile is concerned i think u need to improve on them...as they should be above 85 at least so that u can get a confirm chance of getting a call frm NIBM.....even though it lowered to 80 for our batch
as far as placements r concerned here the starting level offerd is MMGS-2 but there is a chance that some banks might consider offering MMGS-3 as well when our batch will undergo placement process...coz 50%of the bank employees workforce is going to retire in the next 5 years....so u never now...^ ^
