that is will the short listing be done as and when we send our applications or only when everyone has submitted the application forms, the profiles will be scrutinised?

Hi All,

I'm not a senior, but I went through the whole SPJain process last year right from applying online till making it through in the final list.(and will be applying this year as well)
I must say, it was one of the most easiest process of applying, booking interview slots etc etc. Everything was self explanatory, online, easy and 'cumberless'.

The shortlisting will be done once everyone has submitted their applications, there is no advantage/ disadvantage of applying early or late. Last year the first list (profile based) was out on the 15th of january and the second list (which takes into consideration the CAT score as well) was out around the first week of feb.
The admission isn't totally profile based. But with good acads and a good profile, your chances of getting a profile based call go up. For the rest, do well in the CAT/XAT/GMAT.

Thanks,
Gagan.

One advice to all, think before selecting your specialization. Last year, there were a lot of calls made and a lot of people got rejected in the interviews cuz they couldn't justify why they'd opted for a particular specialization. You can't just say I'm opting for finance since I'm good at maths and I love numbers.

Think in your mind for 5-10 mins that why are you applying for a particular specialization, how does it fit into your long term objective?

Thanks,
Gagan.

GMAT & CAT for SP jain - 16-09-2009, 08:54 PM

SP Jain also accepts GMAT scores also.

1. As i have already sent my GMAT scores and intend to sit for cat also - should i still register online again? and

2. are the GMAT scores taken for a different course wrt CAT?

Thanks Gagan.. the shortlisting is done only after the last date and not immediately. So there is no advantage as such.

The calls are a mix of profile and your CAT XAT scores, so try giving your best shot to CAT/XAT and fill in your form carefully.

The procedure and the course are the same for GMAT and CAT. You need not apply twice using two different scores, you can fill in both the scores when you are applying.

Re: [2010-2012] SPJIMR Admission Queries and Related Discussions - 16-09-2009, 11:22 PM

Shehanaz,

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The process goes like this, we fill in our application form and do not specify our CAT/XAT/GMAT percentile/score till the results are out. We go on to submit the application and make the payment without entering the CAT/XAT percentiles. Once the results are out, we log in again and update our CAT/XAT scores.

As far as i can remember, I may be wrong, last year the CAT/XAT percentile page wasn't a part of the form that was filled in at the time of applying. After we had applied online, we had to update our scores through a link that was made available on the web site at a later stage.
This year, the scores/percentiles have been made a part of the application form itself (though in all likelihood they need to left empty till the results are out.)

Thanks,
Gagan

just one question...

i am a cookie cutter final year engineering student, average academic record(64%), nothing special in the extra curricular department.

even if i do get a 99 %ile in CAT, do I honestly stand a whiff of a chance? i've been told that in SPJ... your percentile is not very important....they want well rounded students.

any opinions puys?
