Hi seniors...

Had 2 queries based on the ad i saw in today's paper.. would be glad if anyone can throw some light on them..

1. I had a query about the test score to be applied with for spjmir pgdm... i had a 730 gmat score taken on july 09. So now when I am hoping for a 98+%ile for CAT09, will it make any difference if i apply with GMAT score rather than CAT/XAT?
Basically I want to know how different is the admission process for someone applying with GMAT score and someone applying with CAT score, cuz a score of 730 (96%ile as per gmat) cannot be given the same weightage as someone getting 96%ile in CAT.
p.s : tried last year's thread but couldn't find anything related to this

2. What all do we have to give in writing along with the application? I mean SOP or introduction or anything else for that matter.

As spjain gives emphasis on profile i came to know that now they will be calling candidates b4 CAT XAT acc. to profile for GD/PI and then addmission will be given acc. to the performance in CAT, XAT....
also does spjain gives call at even 85 percentile if profile is good...

s.p.jain come up with two shorlists ..........
one before cat/xat results, here the calls are completely profile based ( the candidates need to score minimum 85 %yl in CAT/XAT for getting admitted finally).. .
the second list comes after cat/xat results... here the calls are the combination of profile + score

is it some thing like we can apply for all- like marketing, finance etc.. and based on the criteria for each and our score and profile..we ll get calls? puys throw some light on this..thanks...

So does that mean the applications are mutually exclusive? I mean if someone applies without the score (based on profile) and doesn't get selected in the first shorlist.. He/She is virtually ruled out even if he/she gets 99+ in CAT, as there's no separate application for the second shortlist..

Am I right?

Hii Seniors,

I had a doubt regd the shortlisting before CAT. If i am not shortlisted for pre CAT does that mean i will not be shortlisted post CAT also based on my scores?

And also normally when are the GD/PI held for pre-CAT call getters?

NO.... he can update his score ... and he might be shortlisted based on high scores .... there is nothing like being ruled out completely if not shortlisted in first list.. if you score high, you might be there in second shortlist..

no u cant select all specialisation...u hav to select only 1 n justify the same to admission committee....once given admission for a particular specialisation u cant change it after 1st year ....u hav to continue wid it unless extreme cases....spjain is 1 of those b schools where u select ur specialisation 1st

@janvats - You can select only 1 specialization at the time of form filling. The criteria for all the specializations would be profiles. So choose the specialization which you can justify and really want to puruse.

@all - If you dont get through the first list, you can always update your score and you might get through in the 2nd list. So even if you are nt through the first time, dont lose hopes and give your best to CAT and XAT.

Also if you get thru the first list, and your score is <85%ile, your application stands rejected.

Last year the GI (Group Interview) was held at the same time for candidates of both the lists.

@saradindu - You do not need to give any SOP along with the application. But do take the application form seriously, because a lot depends on your profile.

Also we would be considering the fact that a 730 GMAT score is nt equal to a 96%ile CAT. The min CAT score is 85%ile and a min of 680 for GMAT to be eligible.

will there be any advantage or disadvantage regarding the timing of sending our application......

like if we send in our application too early, is there a chance that our profile might interest them and they might feel that they wont get such a good profile and we might be shortlisted immediately

or


on a negative side, will they feel that they might get a better profile compared to mine and reject my application without seeing the other applications?


so basically my qn is will the short listing be done immediately or only after the last date is over ?...... seniors plz correct my view if its wrong
