How do u calc. the marks fr the CAT applcn. form?

Hello people,
I gotta doubt in the marks option of the CAT applcn form..
How do you calculate the marks to be entered?
I've got 7 subjects in the I semester,10 in the second,8 in the rest.
In this case tHere is an obvi. diff. between
1.the (sum of indiv. marks)/(total no of subs)--&
2.the average of the average marks obtained every sem.

Your institute must have some weightage given to each semester?
Like we for the third year and final year have 1.5 times the weightage of first two years...

Also the brochure on page 5 clearly says u have to fill in average of percentages of marks obtained for semesters completed till date...

Till today ,i have no idea of any kinda weightage given for parti. sems coz .We are proselytes who started doin engg. in Madras univ and later converted to Anna.Our rules are subject to constant change.
