Hi Guys,

Vry sorry to post here..but i feel u guys can judge me better

My profile

X - 86% XII - 93.7% B.E - 70 3yr exp by jun in infy

Strictly 1 or 2 extra curriculars....

I am expecting 94- 98 percentile score in CAT...(my calc using mocks)..

Anyone pl tel me which is the best n range of colls(for my standard) can i get admission into.. considering an average perfor in GD, PI

Dono how i m going to face interview panel with no extra curriculars ..

jus a small doubt..... i still feel i cn reach above 98 if i can push myself in the last month. Im trying ma best ...How much important r these extracurrics for IIMs

I REQUEST TO REPLY IN BRIEF (in listing colleges which suit me)

Desperately awaiting reply

You seem to have a good enough profile to land up in IIMs. However percentile is the only thing that you should worry for now. Let us talk at length once you have your percentiles with you. Dreaming about IIMs is not unrealistic for anybody. So please do not think of this place as a distant dream.

All the best.!

Re: [CAT 2009 Helpline] By IIM Kozhikode students - The Road to CAT 2009 - 09-11-2009, 06:37 PM

Hi Gurus,

I have been taking CL MockCAT's and IMS SIMCATS my Percentile for most of the Mocks have been around the 98.5 mark......wid max being around 99.5 % and min being around 97% but the problem is that in my very first Mock i scored 98.59%ile and in my last mock too i scored only 98.16%......there has been no improvement in 3 months although i have put in a lot of effort.

My order of Attempting Sections is VA-LR/DI-QA......the reason is VA being my strongest i attempt it first.....followed by LR/DI (my weakest section) and then QA.

I have tried breaking QA and then revisting it but didnt yield favourable results........Also sometimes wen the paper is tough i keep shuffling B/W sections mostly between LR and QA and do only the easy ones or the moderately difficult ones......but to my surprise when i attempt the challenging questions @ home i am able to do them in reasonable time .....but still i refrain from attempting dese in Mocks.

Please advice me how to go about dis so i can break the latency of my scores.

Thanks in Advance

Hi ganesh,
As I said in some of my earlier posts, the number of people giving in mocks (around 40k) is less than that of CAT (around 2 lakh) and usually the serious ones give mocks. Considering this, you would easily be in the 99.xx percentile. I can assure you that.
Your order is pretty good. No need to change it.
Since you still have time , you shoud look at maximising your score in one of the subjects, usually the strongest area (English in your case).

Lastly,In CAT only numbers matter. I agree that doing a tougher question might give you some kind of emotional satisafaction or something , but numbers wise they are all the same. At this point you should be looking at returns on your time and do tougher ones when needed (and be confident because you can do them). Just play smart

All the Best.

Hello mohdhuzaifa2010,

I understand that being anxious is natural coz of all the hype around the CAT and the IIMs.

At this point I would advise you to focus on how to score your 99%ile . The reality is that the call-generating criteria of IIMs changes with the institute and the year when you appear. But the great thing is that the day you get your results, you also get to know which institute wants you to attend their process, so its them who have to worry about it and not you

It may help you to keep in mind that it is not important to be very worried about things that have happened in the past. So just chill out. Here's wishing you all the best for your exam.
