it has lot of files related to gk .. current affair folder is awesome..

be choosy enough and read selected files ..

according to me IIFT gk has no real weightage .. with jus 0.3 marks per question , even if u answer 10 question rightly u get 3 marks which is equal to jus 4 reasoning question weightage.. act accordingly.. having said the above point, GK can even fetch u a call .. last year i missed the cutoff by jus one wrong response in gk .. if it was right , i could have atleast got a call..for ppl , who find difficult to maximise the score in one section , gk can be a good alternate option .. sorry for confusing u guys .. thanks for reading

did my GK part from T.I.M.E coaching magazine ( Jan to Oct) + handout. Most of the direct questions were from the same.
It took just 5-6 days to cover the entire thing. I formed a group with my friends and discussed facts and figures which is the best way to memorize the things.
As of other sections, my CAT preparation did most of the part + mock IIFT papers from T.I.M.E and CL.
It is more than sufficient.
Remember, IIFT is all about speed game with accuracy and little bit of luck.

In the last one month i realised the importance of knowing reciprocals of first 30 numbers.. it not only increased ma speed but also increased the accuracy ..

consider this example

whats 5.88 % of 187

5.88 = 1/17

so 187/17 = 11 .. doesnt take more than 20 sec

this concept helps in pie charts and other percentage calculation ..

few may do by aproximation like 6% of 187 .. then multiply by 6 ..

yea thats k .. but if reciprocal are known , its even more easy especially in few of the speed test ..

percentage also follow few patterns

2 series

3 series

5 series

7 series

remaining number series

2 series

1/2 = 50% , 1/4 = 50/2 = 25 carry on this way

3 series

1/3 = 33.33 % , 1/6 = 33/2 = 16.67, carry on this way

5 series

1/5 = 20 , 1/10 = 10 , 1/15 = 20/3 = 6.67

7 series

7 - 14.28

14 - 7.14

28 - 3.57

21 - 7/3 = 4.75

remaining number series

1/11 =9.09

1/22 = 4.54

1/13 - 7.7

1/26 - 3.85

1/17 = 5.88

1/19 = 5.26

1/23 = 4.35

1/29 = 3.45

see above bold value 1/23 - 4.35 and if u interchange first two number , it change to 1/29..

one more interesting thing to notice is that

1/20 = 5

1/19 = 5.25

1/21 = 4.75 ..so even if u forget 1/19 or 1/21 --> it can be got as +/- 0.25 of 20

one more small application where i use this

5/17 -- ?

1/17 - 5.88

so given ques convert to 5.88 * 5/100 .. this is much more easier to calculate

as i have discussed smaller number in the eg above ,it may appear that this method is less efficient.. but thats not the case

number 588 , 476 , 357 ,77 doesnt look strange if u have reciprocal in ur mind

1/17 is 5.88 , 1/13 is 7.7 and 1/28 = 3.57..

there can be lot of ways to find reciprocals

i have jus given u some hint and one can easily improvise on this concepts ..

hope it serves the purpose !
