There are people, who can win anything single handedly. At the same time, there are people who fight there way out to reach that so called success.
Here, we are going to focus on the second type of people. These guys they are not great guns, they are not studs, but they are extraordinary in one thing than the rest of the pack. These guys have that single word which is an energy drink for the Journey called CAT ie Confidence..
Anybody / Everybody can be confident. But these characters that we have been speaking about, would have showed their results atleast once in while. Ie If there are 10 mocks in which these guys have appeared, in 8 occassions they might have failed, but in 2 they would have surprised people with their sheer confidence…
These guys, who are the “Fighters”, we call them as UNDER DOGs of Pagalguy.
UDTians have been known for their Harwork, Teamwork, Passion & their faith. They don’t talk but they BARK. Even they say, Rocky was an Underdog J

When the selection happened ie UDT 06, UDT 07, UDT 08..Most of them were scoring between 94-98 in the mocks & once in a while , they used to break that 99 mark. The calls what you see above is because of the sheer confidence, what they had.

Proposed Criteria for Selection to Underdog Team:-
- Should not have ranked in top 100 in AIMCAT or SIMCAT etc. more than once (One time is allowed).
- Should have great motivation to do well in CAT and show the PG that he can bell the CAT.
Kindly provide proofs for your scores/ cases were you have won against all odds

Proposed procedure for Selection:-

Anyone desiring for selection to Underdog Team should post on this thread with his performance record in Mock CATs for CAT 2009, and why he/she thinks he/she should be a part of this team.
Total 16 members will be selected democratically (Captain + 10 playing members + 2 Reserves + 2 Cheerleaders + 1 Coach). But everyone else is welcome to take part in the journey of UDT till CAT and post CAT also.

This makes me feel that I’m getting close to my dream. This will be more than enough to fuel ma journey to reach the destination.

The term Underdog is not at all new with respect to me . It was for all ma friends and others who supported me and always believed in me that I’m capable to make it happen.That’s precisely why i am nominating myself

Why should I be in?

cat 2008 - didnt clear quants cutoff which happen to be ma strongest point

iift - got 26.xx .. easily would have got 27 (thats cutoff last year)- few silly mistakes
eg- ipl match question in gk
xat : verbal ditched ma chances - 96 overall

In case the above reasons aren’t enough, then , as a team member I can surely say the possible ways of performing bad in an exam so that u ppl dont do such things which i did and end up with a great scores and coveted calls ..


secondly, I've been managing Chennai pg meet well {if not well - i can surely say somewhat well } this season really its great feeling to be with most active and promising puys .. chennai rocks!

But now, the story is different..realized ma mistakes and blunders i did in last one year... yeah..I think I have broken the jinx. I have gained the push{acceleration} to crack anything. Thanks to last year’s cat failure..i learnt a lot from it

failure are stepping stones for success... yea its a proverb but i think this year , it would be made realistic in ma life on Jan last week

Why I think I should be a part of UDT 09:

1) I have been there, done it. I appeared for CAT 2008, and scored 99.36%le, with a split up as follows: 91.84%le in DI, 97.84%le in quants, 98.48%le in VA. I missed out on IIM calls by a whisker, and I shall leave no stone unturned to get into an IIM this year. I learnt some lessons the hard way last time, and I am confident of putting those lessons to use, and striking gold this time.

2) I started mocks a bit shakily(especially CL), but have found some consistency after a few initial hiccups. I have scored over 95%le in all AIMCATs except 1 so far, and have scored 99+ twice(99.5 being my highest).

3) I am always eager to motivate and help people who need motivation and help. Also, I can do with some motivation and help myself, and UDT provides the perfect platform for the same.

4) I feel I belong to the UDT, being an underdog myself. I might not have frighteningly huge scores in mocks, but I know that on my day, no one can stop me from getting a big score. In the previous season, I crossed the 90%le mark only 5 times out of 20 AIMCATs, but still managed to get 99+ in the real CAT.

5) I greatly desire to be part of a legacy like the UDT. For me, it would be an honour if I am selected.

Reasons why i should be a part of UDT-09:-

1.Gave CAT-08.scored 98.45%ile with 95.86,96.67,92.58 in di,va and qa.screwed up quant which,ironically,is my forte.(got nervous during paper)Converted IMT-G but did not join because i want 2 test myself 2 d limit...missed iim calls by a whisker so determined 2 make it 2 an iim this year.

2.I am very active on pg.(spend around 3-5 hours a day on PG.)

3.Always there for puys to help them in any way i can.(have given qa and di tips 2 many on pg)

4.I know, i will get into an iim this year whatever comes my way.(M not over-confident-have confidence in my abilities)

1. I have secured a 97.43 percentile in cat'08 (QA - 60 %tile, DI - 94 %tile, VA/RC - 99 %tile)..QA was one of my strength sections, after cat went down in tears but promised to myself that i would come back strong and keep fighting till the end..didn't apply to any other insti other than the iims because i was determined to make it to the iims (its also a prestige issue for me)..This year I am determined to make it and will definitely strive very hard towards my goal..Mocks have been decent so far and I have reached all the sectional as well as overall cutoffs of all the TIME Aimcats i have taken so far with scores in the bracket 95-98 %tile..

2. I have always helped people around and cherished being a part of a larger community..last year i was associated with the Kolkata Dream Team and it was gr8 pleasure learning from some great people (gr8 human beings as well)..as a part of this esteemed team (even without being a part), i would be fully dedicated to the cause of my team and i would always reach out my hands to whoever needs it..

3. I am active in PG..I have been posting regularly now..in 08 wasnt able to be too regular because of some family commitments, erratic internet and college threats (3 year lag threats that even led to my trial..!!!) but i tried my utmost to be a part of PG communities even in extremely trying circumstances..

My Unfinished Journey to CAT -
CAT 2007 - My first official attempt to CAT with 0% Preparation and 100 percent confidence. Wanted to crack this Billi in my first attempt.
Nov 18th 07 - Aaj to Phod ke aana hai, attempted around 60 odd out of 75 questions in total and after exam.I was confident also, I think I have done it.......
January Second Week 08 - QA = 2 marks...LDI = 14 Marks , VA = -4 OA = 12.... Some 30 Odd percentile tha..Saade Sapne kahi kho gaye, haye hum kiya se kiya ho gaye...........................Didnt appear in any other exam this season and totally concentrated on my Job, Got an Onsite offer from TCS in April 08 and I rejected the offer not because of CAT 08(After Jan second week in 08 , I never thought that i will appear CAT any more) but coz of very BAD profile offered to me at onsite.......Sometimes around mid June 08, I was literally frustrated in IT industry with no growth, no more onsite due to Global recession.....Finally decided that this is not the place where i want to see myself after 5 years down the lane......Only option left for me was to go for my dream. CAT 08 - I m coming...........

CAT 2008 - My First serious attempt to CAT.......Joined TIME Classroom @ Salt lake.......Started with 50 %ile in AIMCAT and reached 99 %ile by 903(90+ around 7 or 8 times ).......Best AIR was 317....I filled all other exam form(XAT,FMS,IIFT,SNAP,NMAT,JMET) this year........Applied for almost all colleges like MDI,NITIE,IMT,SPJAIN,XL,XIMB..... I was very much confident that i will make it this year...Finally the D day has arrived.
16th Nov 08 -- 9:55 AM - 40 Question in VA(First bad Symptom....) Could not decide the Time management,Started with VA, Spent around 1 hour,attempted 21 Q.., then came to DI - attempted 8 Q.... By this time i already came to know that its all over this year...and then came to QA - attempted 8 Q only....Its all over for me.... By evening, I checked the solution....and Here goes my Score DI- (8C,0W) = 32,QA - (8c, 0w) = 32 and then came to VA/RC...attempted 9 in Rc (8C,1w) and then i tasted the Sweet poison of English grammar......(2C,11W)......EU - (10C,11W) = 29......OA = 93.....Went into a mental trauma after that and spoiled each and every exam that year......Didnt get a single call....
What I learned from this CAT?
Expect the Unexpected.....The X factor were always missing in MOCks....
If you could not perform in CAT that does not mean you cannot crack any other Exam....Same year you can do well in other Exam also.......
Most people fail not because lack of knowledge, but they fail to perform under Pressure.......
Dont Judge yourself with your Mock Score......
Dont ever think that it is the end of life.............
CAT 2008 has changed my life.....It has given me everything. I am now more determined, more foccussed towards my ambition.......... Sooner or later I will be there.........

Why I want to Join UDT '09 -
What is the difference between BLACKI and not to be a BLACKI....The answer is difference of two Question at max on D day.. We all know that the most of the puys here are extremely talented then
why these two question should decide our fate.......These thing can easily be eliminated in a team of like-minded people... We can share our strength and weaknesses to all puys... We can motivate each other to achieve our dream..... We can set example for our Juniors also....
At last I would like to say only one thing, if given chance i will prove my worth for this Team......

Reasons to be in the team :

1. Have appeared in CAT twice. (CAT'07 and CAT 2008 )

2. Scored 96.08 %ile in CAT'08 with a breakup as QA: 97.50 , DI : 95.6 , VA: 79.8... VA has been the factor preventing me from reaching my dream b-schools and am still fighting (with confidence ) to defeat this factor.

3. Have done a good amount of research on collecting data about top 25 B-Schools ( profile/ placement etc).... knows to a good extent that which college will suit better to a graduate with a particular profile..

4. I have always motivated people to see the MBA Dream , helped them in QA and DI , updated them about b-schools and helped them in whatever way they needed me .

5. Though a bit consistent this year in mocks....but i still i need to put a lot of efforts to get a call from my dream b-schools!! I am confident to achieve it because last year my average scores in mocks was around 85-90 %ile and i got 96.08 %ile on D-Day.

6. Lastly , I had the courage and confidence to leave the calls from IMT-G and IMI-Delhi to give myself, one more chance to see where some of my extra efforts can take me in CAT'09.

7. I am active on PG with 6.14 posts/day so far.....and this average is increasing as my number of days (since registration) are increasing in PG.

I would like to nominate myself .Why should i be selected??Here are some of the reasons...

1).I have written CAT 07-87.4 percentile and CAT 08-97.56 percentile(DI did me in).With a decent split last year (90+ in all the three),I have great faith in my abilities and know that iam capable of getting into an IIM.
I also got an IMT-G call last year but did not attend the GD-PI because of my belief in myself to try one more time.I know the pain of not getting an IIM call after slogging for a year for preparation.

2).Why I am an underdog??

I think I lack what they call the "X" factor which pushes ur score to get an IIM call.
I have always scored in the 96-98 range(TIME mocks..this includes the last season also(the 09 series)) except for AIMCAT 1017 where i got a 87.13 percentile.
I don't believe in the negative connotation associated with the term "underdog" seeing the achievements of the previous underdog teams.Some people make it into an IIM with limited efforts ie.the cost involved is less for them.But we underdogs have to pay more/sacrifice more to get an IIM call.It's just the cost that differs,the final goal will be the same.

I will be very happy if i am selected in the underdog team.This is my "Dream team".

3).I know that I don't have a active PG profile to boast of,but iam somewhat reticent in expressing my views.Please let that not be a factor in dismissing my nomination .
