Even I have been advised the same by my mentors and my seniors who are now in IIMs...
One must not be too bent on getting experience if it's not gonna be more than 10-12 months...
It's better to get a GREAT percentile to offset the disadvantage o not being associated with any acad institute during the period....

Hi Guys
I am working with Daksh eServices now an IBM subsidiary for the past 16 and a half months. I am working as a Sr Technical Support Specialist. My dilema is to continue with it or not. It's very tough to study during the weekdays. I can only manage 2 hrs during the weekdays and I try to catch up on weekends.
I have joined TIME weekend batch. I had decided to resign but my TL's and my manager said that whatever you have achieved will go down the drain if you leave now and there is a gap in ur work. It's a dream to have such supportive TL and a Wonderful manager. Can anybody tell me that if I decide to leave right now and only study for CAT, the interview panel will ask me abt leavig the job and doing prep. Would it be a satisfactory answer that I wanted to concentrate on CAT. And if they ask that If by any chance you didn't got call from anywhere then what would you have done. What impression they would have. I am just not able to think abt a prper answer. And if 1% I am not able to manage a call then I have to start as a CCS again.

Cheers

dont leave your job. the cat is not an exam that requires you to sit at home and study. that is the whole fundamental on which it has been designed. do one mock test and figure out if you have any energy left over to do any more studying that whole day...hell! you'll feel too pooped to even tabulate your score...
my advise is to continue working, put in extra effort over the weekend and on holidays..and take a fortnight off just before the cat.
PS: i am a doctor and i work in a hospital, dont get any casual/ national holidays and do atleast 7 to 10 night duties in the month - if that is some consolation...

hi,

dont worry too much about your workex...CAT Percentile counts and so does your PI....if workex < 1 year expect serious questioning on Acads...for someone working for few months there are questions about your work and what you like/dislike abt your organization...people who have switched jobs some question if you did a right thing to them..ethics and all...but all these can be handled if and when you are going for your interview...right now just concentrate on your CAT.....

i would suggest not to leave your jobs for now....take it up this way till nov 1st week...2 hrs a day is pretty good if you put in your best and sincere efforts...take 2 weeks off in the end and do some solid practice...god willing you will deliver!

also, leaving your job now wont have ANY disadvantage viz-a-viz your GD/PI...just let them know you are THAT serious towards getting into an IIM...its a perfectly natural thing to do and many do it this way....only advantage of working is that one is better suited to handle any misfortune incase of any rejections in the end...

so take your call...
