A Thread for SPECIAL CAT aspirants -
02-08-2009, 07:21 PM
First of all sorry guys for writing the word 'DISABLED' there in the title as we are not DISABLED by any means,...but it was necessary so as to grab your attention.
This thread is for all those CAT aspirants who are SPECIAL.
For a long time now i have been feeling the need of a thread that is only for SPUYS (special puys)
By means of this thread i am looking forward to know and become acquainted with all the 'SPECIAL PUYS'....
I also request you all to post any query that you have in your mind. It can be regarding admission or any other thing for which you wanna seek the support of other SPUYS.
Looking for great response from you SPUYS
So SPUYS know each other and help each other.....and sorry for the word 'DISABLED' again...

Let me inaugurate the thread with a introduction post
My name is simranpal (as is evident frm my profile)
I have just completed my BSc(H) Microbiology frm DU (plz don't ask my cllg's name....even if you do i won't tell it )
I am a ortho disabled guy...but never deemed myself as disabled and competed with the 'NORMAL' guys in every field...wether it's sports, studies or anything else. and those who mistook me as disabled have always regretted.
And now am here to give 'em a good shocker by cracking the CAT

hi buddy!
First of all,a big thank you for opening this thread! I was myself thinking of opening this thread..nice initiative bro!
Anyways,a small intro abt myself...
I'm a ortho disabled guy..in my final year of engineering..Hoping to give my best shot at CAT this year..
However, one thing that is bothering me are my acads dude..pls check it out and tell me if they are ok..and if they will seriously affect my chances of getting into an IIM..
10th - 86 (CBSE)
12th - 68(State)
B.E - 68 (Current)
Really bothered abt these bad acads :(
one more thing..one thing that impressed me abt u was ur confidence level..keep it up bro..this huge inferior confidence has been my nemesis..hoping to get over it..
Any idea of the cut offs for us spuys?I think this info would help us a lot..
Also,do IIMs like A & B screen students with a cut off based on their past acads??
Looking forward to ur reply..Hoping that more spuys join here soon..CHEERS! Keep the confidence going!!

Hi krish i am elated that i got a reply on this thread and a friend
Now talking about ur acads believe me they are good enough to fetch you a call from the most coveted B school...i mean IIM-A. if you don't believe me then read this....."ALTHOUGH I HAD ONLY 58% IN MY GRADUATION BUT I GOT A CALL FROM IIM-A"....a call getter wrote this on PG itself.
See they keep aside
5% marks for ur acads and 5% for ur work-ex...if u do well in the written part, GD and PI..you can very easily veil ur acads.
if you ask me i have 88% in 10th(CBSE)..85% 12th(CBSE) but 56% in graduation but still determined to make it... just forget this thing bro and prepare for CAT...
About percentile for us spuys...IIM-B had a cut off of 86%ile for special candidates...but this was 2 yrs back..i donot have the updated stats..i'll let you know as soon as i get to know...
write to me if you have any other query.......
HOPING TO SEE MORE SPUYS ON THIS THREAD...CHEERS

Hi...
Glad to see this thread
I have edited the name suitably.
We have something like this
http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/touchi...ghlight=spurti (Preparing the Special KIDS in Bangalore to make their dreams come true)
running at Bangalore....I am not sure how soon can we replicate in other cities.
Let me know if you have some ideas.

Hi Krazy
All the Differently Abled (DA) candidates have been given the same date and few centres because of two reasons :
1)- The IIM people cannot arrange for the aids, which many DA candidates require but not all, at all the centres.
2)- Because now the test will be conducted in different slots, the IIMs have the option of evaluating all the DA candidates together with respect to each other. So all the DA candidates will called to the centres on the same day and will be evaluated, then top 15 or so DA candidates (1% of 1500) will be given a call.
This was not possible earlier because the test used to be conducted on the same day and used to have the same paper for all.
The 1) point does not apply to you but the 2) does.
Hope it helps........
Do write if you have any other query
