Suggestions - New Additions to the forum - 13-01-2003, 07:17 PM

Hello Junta,

As of yet , we are doing very good in terms of posts, members and topics. However it is time to take a higher jump to make the community more interesting.

I would prefer you keep this post on top with replies etc as to how do you want this forum to progress. Ideas on adding new subforums, main forums etc etc. Anything you feel would help make the forum more integrated and helpful to everyone.

I for one, am working on small modifications which add to the browsing experience. The latest modification to the forum is the "Gender" option in the profile. Login and check your profile and update it with your Gender . This will show up in every post of yours.

You can check up any of my post to check how it would look once you select your gender from the profile.

The next modification I have planned is a way to add your Birthdates to your profile so that we can celebrate your Birthday in Pakka PagalguY.com Ishtyle

Now these are just the cosmetic changes. Bigger plans are on the horizon and I'll work on them if I don't get any calls .

Pour in your suggestions as to how do you think the forum is doing at present. What do you think is lacking. What do you think is good. What else can we do to make it better. How do you see it 4 months down the line. A year down the line. Any suggestions, hints etc etc all are welcome. Its time you guys took charge of this thread and decided on how this place is going to look in the future.

Regards,

Subforums possibly at the Lounge..Jokes,Chit-Chat, Articles of Interest, Music, Sports, Philosophy, Movies, and so on. I have a feeling it'll encourage people to post and take part in interesting discussions once it's organised in this (or in some cohesive) way.

Right now, The Lounge is characterised by a number of new threads started (not too many replies, mind you), most of them being Jokes and "forwards" and such. People who may want to talk about something else may be a bit put-off by the deluge of such threads. All I'm saying is, organising it this way would give equal visibility to all areas that the lounge is supposed to cover.

Lots of new people keep coming to the CAT part of the forum, same doesn't seem to happen in the Lounge. I think it has something to do with the organisation.

Ashwin.

Do you think we might be able to have enough momentum to keep all the subforums busy ? I think that once a forum or subforum goes inactive, nothing much can be done about it. So we should decide as to what kind of subforums we need and is there enough interest to sustain them.

Ok CAT guys et gals, you need to answer this. What keeps you people away from The Lounge ? What are your expectations ? What'd incite you to post ?

Sub forums based on cities ? Well, I am not sure if thats a good idea. Rather than getting together as a community aren't we taking a step back if we create forums based on diff. cities ?

I have been thinking about the files/attachement section too. The forum software is scheduled for an update in around April. This update would contain the facility to upload stuff. I could edit the code and implement the functionality now too , but then I'd have to suffer serious pains while updating the forum software in April and we might loose the existing files accumulated till then.

Plus, we would need to move the forum from its current location in NJ, USA to Georgia as the webspace needs are hiked to higher limits. That'd mean a downtime of 2 - 3 days. Can you guys take it ?

Um.. and a section for jokes/forwards... that kind of makes sense. But it also would become the trash can of the forum. Any takers ?

Come on guys... more more more ... and then soon we can start working on modifying the forum accordingly for better usage.

Hello Guys. The Birthday Modification has been added to the forums now. Edit your profile and get your Birth dates in. But hey, you will need to fill out the year too. in 19XX format , else the profile won't update. Sorry I can't do anything about that

Hope to celebrate many of your birthdays over here

Hi Pagal Guy,
Thats a good initiative on your part to improve things. How about an interview section where people could post their past experiences with respect to Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI)? I am sure many of us went to MBA Institutes in the previous years and did not make it/ ditched it for something better. This could help in telling others the problems they could face and also alleviate many fears and misconceptions. Since many are freshers, this could be of immense use to them and infact to everyone.

What say?
