KJSIM, what it feels like?
This post is just a capsule of what life is at KJSIM, just a means to make people aware about what KJSIM is all about, so this couls also be a means for further knowledge for people who would want to know more about this institute and so that they know more about this, the problems we faced (still facing), or is this institute really what it shows out to be ( or better!!)...etc etc..
I am a student of I yr PGPMS in KJSIM; this is only a way of encapsulating my experiences of a B-school ( just to help the new entrants out in making the right choice)
A B-SCHOOL ;is it really so "B" or just the jitters...
Anyways, my experiences so-far ( i`ll keep updating this thread to give out more info)
KJSIM is ALL-MUMBAI; it is only on the pillars of MUMBAI that this institute stands, which is the sole reason as to why this college still lies in the B cateogry of B-schools across India. This college is 21-yrs old ( 1983 was when the first batch of MBA`s passed out- It was part-time then)..still this college has not been able to create more than a slight ripple... Amongst the people of MUMBAI, this college has a very orthodox reputation, as in students from good-middle class families come here..both in their graduation wing (B.sc, B.com, B.E and MBBS..etc etc ) and in the Junior college wing...i.e if u are from Somaiya ( that`s what this college is called by all here) that means u come from a good family, u have good manners and are a good person.
Anyways, moving on to the Mgmt. wing.. The building is pretty much decent, with all the works, no cribs about anything ( except for stray dogs here and there).. lots of A/C `s all around...neat canteen and a decent ( i wouldn`t say good) crowd,--> the MMS crowd hasn`t yet arrived...anyways the initial experience was good; so far. the bottom line is that u don`t feel u are in a B-school as yet ( it`s been about 3 weeks for me in college but still i haven`t been able to transit from my Engg. to the fact that i am in a B-school)........To b cont`d

hi,
being an alumni of kjs 98 passout, I guess the insti has come a long way in terms of where it was initially.
So please dont say that it has not created ripples. I would say, it has created, but the management has not taken any steps to publicize this.

Ya colleagues, this is CATaract again, i was actually waiting for some replies ( or in other terms, responses) on my post...I basically want to clear some doubts and queries which repliers have; This post is not a publicity stunt; but in simple terms is a platform by which people who need to be aware about SIMSR and its program can do so, I`m not publicising my college just by writing a few honest lines on a website and posting it on a forum..The basic motive of this post is to create the awareness about KJSIM; which people lack (this is also one of the policies of our institute; i.e education which is imparted should not be publicised, which makes it an insult; the motto of the college is that the best publicity of education can only be done by its results and by word-of-mouth) and so that they can know more about this institute and gather more information in this direction and then finally make the best choice.
Now continuing, where i left;
The initial response of the college was a bit surprising, as in the feel of the B-school wasn`t instilled in us since day1; but yes, as the days are passing by; i`m sort-of getting the feel; the basic reason is that , u may find various posts on other sites which say how hectic their life is@ their B-school; such a case is not seen here; there is a bit of a back-seat comfort here; the heat is not yet turned on;
From this batch onwards ( 2004-06); there is a change; rather a contrasting one in the pattern of the Syllabi of the course..basically imbibing a bit from all the major B-schools around the world. Each lecture is of a duration of 80 mins ( same is the case at HBS), every subject taught also has a tutorial class included along with it( similar to the IIM`s), the subjects taught,the trimester pattern, the text-books used, the cases given are all imbibed from some top B-school or the other; this is a very good sign of prosperity, the road to top can not just be achieved by being uni-directional movement, but also by looking around and knowing what the other B-schools are doing with the same amount of time which each has at their disposal...( to b cont`d)..

neat canteen and a decent ( i wouldn`t say good) crowd,-->
| Please stop vandalizing our college....I really think that our college rocks....u need to take the initiative and do the needful....when you say that the crowd here is a DECENT crowd and by no means a GOOD one it again reflects on YOU and it is because of you that this place has a decent crowd and not a good one.....Please analyse your choice of words or rephrase yourself when you make such ludicruous statements .Anyways tell us what good you've brought to this institution other than standing behind the mango tree behind the canteen and sizing the DECENT crowd you claim to see in college with a stupid little unbranded cigaratte of yours ...
"Please change things rather than expect things to change"....remember this and pay attention on your studies and come out successful rather than stand and waste your time analysing the so called crowd in college......
cause it is when you change that you can bring about or expect change from else where....
Anyways don get mad now but i really wish you pass the exams in your first attempt itself....
Best of Luck ... maddy "By the time others think you should have thought"

hi all kjsites...
great to know about the life @ kjsim....but i think itz not the right forum where you are posting....the correct place in the alumni discussion thread..where the life of nearly all b-skools are discussed....if you can move ur discussions there...it will be helpful to lotz of more junta...bcoz they tend to search about the latest happenings in b-skools at that thread...
let this part of the forum remain exclusive for the cat and cat related discussions...

Hey mangzzz,
You can try any one of the following 2 options:
1) Open your application form by typing the following address in the address bar of your Internet Explorer http://simsr.somaiya.edu/NewSimsr/Ad...?mappno=******
Replace the stars at the end with your application no.
2) Find the HTML page in the history of your Internet Explorer.
Hope it works.
