1. I Did not understand by what you meant by "First Block".
2. As you might know, CAT has NO SYLLABUS! so no one can point out which kind of problems can fetch you better marks or which kind of problems you should be practicing more of.

as i had said, HARDWORK and PRACTICE are the ONLY shortcuts for cracking CAT. you cant pick and choose, if you want to get a good percentile. practice all types of questions you can lay your hands on.

It would be a good idea to do Arun Sharma first. doing that will certainly expose you to all the possible type of questins that CAN come in CAT. Then after that you may move on to past years' Mock CATs and CAT exams for a better understanding of the difficulty level.

Happy Preparation

Best of Luck!

I seriously don't want to spam, but it seems my question has drowned in the "Calling All 2009 CAT puys" thread and this anyways looks to be the more apt place to ask it:

There have been so many instances of people stating that certain colleges like IIM-B,C give greater weightage to profiles (work ex, extra currics etc.) when handing out interview calls.

The CAT aplication form only asks for the impersonal no. of years of experience and not the company name or job profile. Neither can we project good extra curricular achievements.

Are we supposed to send out proofs of such add-ons with our application form even if not asked for? I can't figure out any other way of letting them know for an interview call.

that's not true..a few iims look at some things like ur X,XII and UG marks, and ur no. of years of work-ex..that's all..u can chk the shortlisting criteria on the net..they have been made available to public..and btw, iim-c looked only at cat score, and did not, as u said, give any weightage to profile for shortlisting candidates..

Rahul,

This would be something no one can possibly help you with. you yourself will have to kickstart your preparation.

Try and find some more time than u do now and i suggest you start preparing from any of the coaching institutes material. All of them have basics explained in details. Fr QA, another very good source of preparation is the NCERT books. try laying your hands on NCERT Mathematics books from 6th standard to 10th standard. They really help

Well,

I must say, i like the question.

And i must also say that i really do not have much information regarding what the B Schools actually look for, in the profile. IIM A and IIM B have a documented formula that they use while dishing out calls, but other than that, i will be of little help

In last CAT application form, in addition to the No. of months' work exp, the sector of work experience was also asked. And no, we are not supposed to send out any additional documents other than the ones they ask for.
