hi tanveer,
I know i am breaking the continuity of discussions here, but i want some help from fellow puys...basically,this would be my second attempt to cat ..first being with my final year of engg...my performance last year was just ok...
had screwed cat,but did decently in a few other exams, but was unable to convert any of the calls....
Now immediately after my graduation i got my joining in the company i was placed in.....and since then i havent got any time to srsly prepare for cat.I have a hectic training schedule...and i hate what they teach there ,i.e coding, somehow i just wish i hadnt joined this company and now the only way to escape from here is to clear cat.....and that is difficult to do so with my job......
so i am planning to quit my job,and prepare whatsoever i can in these two months......however am still confused that whether to leave the job is a good decsn or not......Any suggestion from fellow puys is welcome...pls do reply....soon

Dude,
I would advise u not to quit your job..don't take the easy option, especially when there is so much risk involved..Balance ur work schedule and cat prep..it's possible..so many people do it..

First of all, let me say that till now, Co-ordinate geometry has played a small part in CAT. Many time, no question has been asked from it.
As for Functions And Graphs, the questions range from easy to average difficulty. Depends on what you mean by 'twisted'. If you mean indirect, then almost all questions in CAT are twisted.
You should get at least 1-2 questions from 'Functions & Graphs' chapter, sometimes even more. Though its not exactly possible to predict the type, I will just give a simply, common example,
Answer the questions based on the following information.
For a natural number x, if x has 2 or more than 2 digits, then f(x) = Sum of all digits of x and f(x) = x,
when x has only one digit. Also given that fn(x) = f{fn–1(x)}, where n ≥ 2.
1. If x = 123456654321, then f∞(x) is equal to
a. 9 b. 3 c. 1 d. 7
2. If x = 7183, then f∞(x) equals
a. 7 b. 4 c. 1 d. 9
Note: ∞ stands for infinity and it is in the subscript form.
This was just one example. You can get other questions of different types or similar to the one above.
All the best.

Hey man.. hope you are doing fine.
Don't worry if you are not performing too well in the mocks.
See, anybody can do really well by following the formulas below:
1) Hard Work
2) Consistence
3) Persistence
4) Desire to succeed
5) Self Confidence
Try taking some more time(even a whole day or two) for analyzing mock tests. See where your shortcomings are and try to rectify them. Make sure that you give equal emphasis to ALL 3 sections. If you are able to solve the questions at home, then you can surely do so in the actual exam, provided you follow apt time management, and select the right questions without getting too tensed or nervous.
Often it happens, that when we are unable to solve a few questions, we loose our confidence, during our exam, and do not progress further. It takes nerves of steel to sit back, and confidently attempt the entire paper, for 2.5 hours. But this is very much possible. You just need to improve your concentration and focus harder.
Why did you pick 95? You can go above 99, if you have the spirit within you.
All the best.

See my post a few pages back... I mentioned this for RC though.
Parajumbles is not much different. I consider it to be one of the most important part in the VA section.
See, first of all, correct selection of question is very important. You should be 100% confident on which question you are going to attempt. If you come across a parajumble with a totally unfamiliar topic, with complicated sentences used(say the trade regulations between the US and EU), you should not attempt it.
While attempting a parajumble, its best to start with the given options. Try to join the sentences into pairs, like A comes after D, or E comes before B, and so on. Finally, after merging the pairs, you should get a skeleton of the final answer. Try to see, if you can find a familiar option to your skeleton. do NOT rush while marking the answer. Always consider the other options, to see if you get a better matching pair. This is one mistake many people make. They believe their answer is the best choice and do not consider the other options.
Lets come to the worst case scenario: you get confused between 2 choices. What to do next? Re-read the parajumble carefully, and decide which option fits better logically. Try to think from the author's point of view. Also see if your choice makes complete sense, when assembled in that given order. Rest is up to God, and luck.
All the best.

Please do not call me Sir, its kinda embarrassing. I am only 20 now.
Hey, I just wanted to give an example. , best not to post specific questions here, but in the Quant forum. Else it can be considered as spam.
But still the answer is
1)- a)-9
2)- c)-1.
P.S. - Don't ask me to explain it now, else this forum will Really Change into the Quant forum.
Well all the best to all puys for CAT 09.
