Hi Guys,

Could anyone tell me DI/LR book (CAT level ) from where i can practice in addition to previous mocks...

I already have DI/LR by Arun sharma but i dnt think that it is relevant as per current CAT trends..moreover DI/LR by arihant publication is far too easy..

How is nishit sinha??
Is the level of the book comparable to that of CAT?

Please help!

As far as your analysis regarding to the two books(no doubt on them)but nishit sinha is far better than the two when it comes to DI.

But on second thoughts nothing can catch the sets from previous year mocks

Hope the info is not redundant expected schedule for CAT is 28 November to 7 December, so chances are high you will get date in December that means count November is in for your preparation.
That means 5 months to go, decipher what else that means.

CAT (Common Admission Test) won’t be a CAT (Computer Adaptive Test).

So Take Care of your preparations & Best Of Luck

CAT 2009: Frequently Asked Questions (1 July 2009)
Q1: I hear that CAT will be held online. Is that correct?
A1: CAT is going to be a computer based test (CBT) and not internet based test (IBT). I.e. Candidate does not take the test on an internet site. Instead of reading the questions in a paper booklet and darkening the ovals on the answer-sheet, a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option.
Q2: I hear that CAT will be a computer adaptive test. Is that correct?
A2: No, CAT is not going to be a computer adaptive test.
Q3: Will the format of the test change?
A3: The format of the test will remain more or less the same except that a candidate reads question on a computer terminal and clicks on the correct answer.
Q4: Can I take the test from any computer?
A4: No. A candidate will take the test only at designated test venues in about 25 cities across India. Detailed information will be provided in the CAT 2009 advertisement.
Q5: But how do I do rough-work and calculations while arriving at the answers?
A5: At the test venue, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a writing pad with numbered pages for calculations. After the test, candidate must leave the pad including all the pages in it at the desk. Rough-work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet as nothing will be allowed to be taken inside the test hall.
Q6: Can you give more details on taking test in a CBT format?
A6: We will be giving more details at a later stage.

Q9: How do I register for CAT 2009?
A9. The Voucher bought by the candidate gives instructions on how to register for CAT 2009. Q10: How do I get my admit card for the test?

Q12: What do I need to bring at the time of test?

A15: CAT 2009 results are expected to be declared by the end of January 2010. Exact date of result declaration will be informed at a later stage.

TTE takes a ride to B-school

At first sight, Anurag Verma looks like any other fresher on the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C) campus.

Tall and stout, the 23 year old melts easily easily into the crowd of new arrivals. It’s tough to spot him actually, but when one does so, he is a show stealer. For, Anurag is a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) with Northern Railway on lien to study at the prestigious B-school.

Down-to-earth and rustic in parts, the lad from Kanpur
was checking tickets on trains till May 30. He was actually on a train in the Moradabad - Kanpur sector when the news reached his home. He had cracked this year’s Common Admission Test (CAT) and found a place on the IIM-C rolls.

Anurag did his schooling from Vidya Niketan Inter-College, Kanpur. After passing his board exam in 2001, he appeared for a special railway board examination and was selected for a vocational course. Anurag joined it and did his Class XII from Ludlow Castle No.4 in Delhi, a CBSE-affiliated school.

“The railways sponsored my Plus-II studies and also provided for hostel accommodation,” Anurag said in chaste Hindi. He speaks English haltingly, but is confident it will not come in the way of his studies at the institute. “I will work on improving my English language skills and this can never pose any hindrance,” he said.

After passing Class XII in 2003, Anurag joined the railways as a ticket collector. “I was posted at Moradabad station.”

In 2006, he got a promotion and became a TTE. “Since then, I’ve been travelling on trains like Punjab Mail, Shramjeevi Express, Sealdah Mail, Himgiri Express and Akal Takht,” he said. Alongside his job, Anurag enrolled for a pass course in Bachelor of Arts (BA) under Kanpur University.
and studied as a private candidate. In 2008, he sat for the CAT examination.
