Or

The Tieup of IIM has been with PROmetric -ETS...and to make it equally difficult for all..i think a GMAT type pattern would be more Apt..
but a huge disadvantage for those who are tuned to conventional Pencil-paper based tests.

Now it will help all the coaching isntitutes to make money by preparing different types of tests.
IIM s and coaching institutes will make more money.
so invest in stocks of IIM B, A , C and IMS, TIME etc as they will give better returns.

I am very much Happy ... Last year I gave that pen and pencil exam ..in Class 4 ... I was even not able to seat in chair and desk (attached in one) ..If I am not able to seat how I will write exam .. Yes I am little fat and did not face this problem when year before last year when I was in Bangalore their people examination center are generally in college .... second problem I faced their was marriage going on GURU-DWARA and lot of air firing ....
What positive point I see
1) Result will come fast
2) I will get a proper seat in exam not a class 3-4 boy chair and desk ..
3) The venue will be far from religious places ..
4) It will reduce time in making bubbles in sheet ...
5) There will be less or no printing mistake...
6) It will give a new name to CAT- Computer Adaptive Test
7) .... because test will happen 10 days ...I will be able to get hotel in Jamshedpur(TATA)...Tata is only CAT center in Jharkhand ....

Some more observations:-
1.People who are appearing for CAT for the 1st time should be happy because your so called CAT veterans would be compelled to adapt to the new strategy, hence they more or less are in the same boat as you...
2. yet again, it might be the relative grading which will be considered
3.Speed goes for a toss, scores goes for a toss along with which your cutoffs too (if point 2 is valid)
4.If its a 10 day window were a canditate can choose a date from, then we are talking about 10*2= 20 session or 20 different papers ..If so, how will point 2 work....
5. What will happen to other colleges which accept CAT scores/percentiles
6.As far as the preparation goes, it will remain the same..But people mostly cant give Paper based tests at home (read MockCATs of 2008, 2007, 2006 etc which people practice as tests apart form the normal Mocks)
Will include any further points, if I get to understand...
Ps: great Job tanveer..

I've given CAT three times and frankly I cannot wait for the change in the medium of test taking.
Those who have given GMAT may have a certain familiarity with the pattern though , I would suggest most should try out GMAT even if you have little intention of going abroad as it is the only online exam with similar infrastructure as expected with CAT.
Certain advantages may include mouse highlighting of text in RC to keep tabs instead of using fingers and generally smaller questions in DI especially
Also try taking online IQ tests in shanty cybercafe with painfully slow systems and uncomfortable situations , since we don't know what kind of center's and systems to expect in India on a mass scale .

Absolutely!! Last time, I was made to sit in class 2..that itself was a demoralizer...and ofcourse,I couldnt protest...moreover, I feel this form of system is quite beneficial as it gives out the result as soon as the exam ends(hopefully) and enables us to take a lot of imp. decisions..moreover, with the competition increasing, I feel that IIMs might consider imposing restrictions on number of attempts.(I seriously pray such a thing shouldnt happen)
- Another attempt..resolve to fight until the last being the only addition to my repertoire...

One more observation...
If its going to be the GMAT way or different Papers (CAT like Papers) in the 10 days span..then, the controversies related to answers wont be there as no one would be able to carry the quetion paper back home, coaching institutes cant issue right/wrong answers & the most interesting aspect of the past 2-3 CATs ie "SPECULATION" will die down
