Re: Waitlisters Tracking Thread for IIM-C PGDCM & PGDM (2009) -

Well this might help the waitlisted folk...
Last year's waitlist movement:
1. IIM-A - 0 buffer calls....waitlist moved till 45. Total no dropping out=45
2. IIM-B - about 50 buffer calls....waitlist moved till 47. Total no dropping out=97
3. IIM-C - Secretive abt no of buffer calls. But there are abt a 100 ppl in IIM-A who also had C converts, and guess atleast 25 odd in B had C also....waitlist of 20 cleared out.Total no dropping out=145+
Therefore the 100 ppl put on hold seems like a sure-shot conversion to me.
Hope for the best.

Definitely some encouragement for the people 'On Hold' and wailtisted.. Guys, copy the link in my signature and update the spreadsheet regarding ur intentions of joining/not joining and on-hold/waitlist no.s to get a clearer picture. Its better if u copy it into your signatures so that many more people can see it.

Hi everybody,
I work in the Editorial Team here at PG and helped put together the home page article on IIM-C PGP admissions. From what Subrata Mitra, Admissions Chairperson at C told me, PGDCM has not been touched and all the 100 odd people on hold now were initially given confirmed admission offers for PGDM. As mentioned in the article, he refused to reveal the no of people with confirmed offers as of now. It did sound as if they expect a shortfall when offers are confirmed by May 1 but I doubt that exactly 408 offers have been confirmed now that 100 people on hold. Anyhow, "The Telegraph", a Calcutta based newspaper has done a story on this issue ( The Telegraph - Calcutta (Kolkata) | Metro | IIM ‘late cut’ leaves admission hopefuls in the lurch) and its mentioned that about 600 people currently have confirmed offers after 100 people have been put on hold. Hope that information is from a faculty at C and not a student.
Cheers,
Harsh

chances depend on the no. of buffer calls given away in pgdcm..also no 'on hold' ppl in pgdcm so i guess(and hope) pgdcm guys ain't affected that much by the "on hold" fiasco..
calls-iim-a,c(dm,dcm),l,k,i;mdi(pgpm)-cat99.91 xlri(bm)-xat-99.63:iift-32.575 marks;iitb-jmet air 8

waitlist numbers-iimc(dcm)-7

one thing that mite be little bit favourable to the on-hold & waitlisted guys...
One thing is FORSURE that the iims share the final call data before declaring the results...Because if anyone look at the pdfs of IIM B result of 2008 ...there they had clearly mention that they are giving 49 extra calls to accomodate the 137 odd people having calls from other iims....So it was not that after the 10 April some person from IIMC checked the result for all the qualified candidates & phew declared that this year the overlap is less....
Having said that the next logical thiing to conclude is that in this case they WONT give number of
confirmed calls which is more than the number of Overlap of A + C & B + C....So whatever the initial number of confirmed calls were be it 700 or 800 the buffer calls given had to be less than the number of overlap calls (Nursery level logic)....
Also given the fact that this year for the first time IIMC declared a systematic waitlist (by providing number ) points to their positive expectations of clearance.....
Now then what mite have alarmed the IIMC ppl just within 24 hours to blow this whistle ...Few possibilities I can think of...
(1) An IT error-- THen wanted to display the ON-hold message from the very start...but couldnt....so they mmite have caught after 24 hours..
(2) Ok...they mite hace realized that the buffer calls given by other institutes is less..like iim K.....so mite have desired to pllay a safe game....
But whatever it was ..I do think alll the on-hold guys will get cleared...becoz as they say the iimC profs maths cant go wrong...it is just some oother external factor which scared them or some IT error...

hey as someone mentioned that around 145 dropoute were thr for IIMC last year.
There are reasons for On hold people to be optimistic.moreover even waitlist will eventually get cleared if the trend follows like previous years.
i know of a friend at IIMC who was not even in the waiting list but eventually made it to elite C
best of luck to all

Are the On Hold and Waitlisters too getting any letter from IIMC ?
IIMB has sent a letter to the waitlisters as well. Hence this query.
