If you are talking about AMITY , TAPMI and other colleges , I would any day prefer a Techie Job.

And I would like to differ in the opinion that "In a long run, Techies end up earning less". I have know a couple of technical persons , who (in terms of package) can any day give fight to a guy from IIM. It again depends on for which type of company are you working - General Application Development (Infosys, Wipro etc) or Core Technical - ST , TI , Adobe.

And lets not forget that a lot of Technical guys are in managerial posts without an MBA.... earning same to an MBA...it boils down to what matter are you made up of

Success requires no explanation and failure permits none.

an important question that crossed my mind: IF u r NOT from IIT's and REC's,and at the same time NOT FROM COMPUTER SCIENCE ENGG, can u make to top IT companies like INTEL,ORACLE,ADOBE etc.. well, as a fresher i understand that u MAY NOT (look at oracle's website..they recruit fresh engineers only from certain engg institutes)...what if u have some work exp in a good company like infy, tcs, wipro etc.... will intel, oracle n the likes take u THEN....
and i think even i agree with strike high that it is NOT true that ppl in IT companies end ur earning LESS
hey,ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION...after being in an IT industry for, say 2 years, can u opt for HR or MARKETING...i mean, u definitely can, but will the IT experience really HELP u getting lateral jobs in ur NEW area of specialisation... simply put, are the companies that'll recuit u as an HR personnel or a marketing personnel put weightage on ur IT experience..

can i imply...that

.. basically if u r good as a techie or if u have onsite opportunity ...and u in a decent company not indian mnc...then...money wise ur not far behind from a MBA..is this what i can assume.safely...bec 10 years down the line i dont want to bein a position that though iam good as a techie and in a decent company and still not have the bucks compared to a guy who had done his MBA from a non iim but a good one institute.....

if non iim insti means fms bracket then MBA is better acc. to me ( u ll get stuck midway learn new technologies thats good but how good)
but if non iim means fore etc. well then u can grow on your own.

Exactly.

We in nutshell are hungary for money.

For me it's career in management where I believe I can use my strengths in a better way than what I'm doing at present in a technical field.

MBA from IIMs(A, B, C) and being in top 25 percent in acads. there is good enough even for someone who earns 28 K.

A month ago I had the chance to go to Scotland for 6 months where I would have been given free accommodation, and food plus 35$ daily besides my indian salary.

I refused the project b'coz that would have meant missing CAT.

I've already failed CAT once. But these small sacrificies are worth if it's as big as IIMs.

Exactly its all worth it if its the iims but do u think is it even worth it to think non iims.. leaving so much ...getting the same after 2 years..

also for a guy who just doesnt have it in him to make it iims...and has a plush It job he should go for a international mba ...

becuse then only its worth it.

P>S: waise which s/w company u work for..
