Just reached Delhi from Mangalore ,I had my GD/PI on 17th(yesterday)
I reached rather early at TAPMI campus, 7 AM ; only to find myself the first one there

. The ride up the hill in the morning , with the college campus looming in the horizon is really something.Auto charges from the hotel in Udupi (Sriram Residency " Rs. 506/- per day) to TAPMI = Rs. 130/-.
The process starts at 8:45 am with a PowerPoint presentation on TAPMI. As soon as you reach the campus, there are three computers where one needs to enter the TAPMI registration number (it is there on your call letter, at the bottom); which gives you the rooms where you have to appear for the GD /PI.
Each panel (there about 6-7 panels) consists of about 19-20 candidates. Each panel itself gets divided into sub-groups. The first round may either may be the "
Written ability" round where an abstract topic is given , and you have to write for 15 minutes; or it may be the GD (depending on which sub-group you are of that panel). Our essay topic was
"tears dry quicker than anything"
10 minutes for preparation of GD topic, and 20 minutes of GD. Our topic was "
Can Obama revive the US economy". The other GD topic of the day was :"
Coaliation politics is the way ahead for India" (or words to the effect, I don't recall the exact wording)
Now, if you are in first sub-group of the panel; your PI starts immediately after the GD ; so you can expect for it to be finished by 2 PM( there is Rs.10/ coupon which you can buy from the admissions office on ground floor to get a ride on the college bus upto Manipal town after your process gets over).
For the second sub-group, the interview starts at 2:30 PM ; and so the last of the members in the group can expect it to go till about 4:30 PM or so. So , one will not reach Manipal before 5 PM in that case.
For the PI, whatever you spoke in the GD is quizzed upon :I was quizzed upon all the economic jargon which I had used in the GD : discretionary spending, origins of recession , how Finland got affected and not India, what role has RBI been doing, what are the macroeconomic indicators , how is inflation calculated, name Indian companies having six sigma ; what is the mathematical foundation for a sigma ( had to explain using the bell curve), difference between analytics and statistics , does India have a true
laissez faire economy, what is SaaS(software as a service) and its use; I was asked about a web project I did in sixth semester of engineering (after the interview panel went through my semester marksheets)[and this is going back in time , as I have 3 years of work-ex ] about how a search engine can be implemented in TAPMI and what keywords and hardware will be used.
Last question was asked was whether I can wake up again after all these years woeking at 6 am to study.
My process got over by 3:45 pm ; and I was in Manipal by about 4:30 PM.
Now for folks who need to go to Mangalore from Manipal: choose the "Express" buses which really run fast ; and you reach Mangalore inner city by about 6 pm.
Now Mangalore inner city is far away from the airport, but if you need a lodge to stay overnight, the final stop of those buses at Mangalore bus stand has plenty of lodges (my room rate was 200/- per night; TV and attached bath; one can catch
bus # 47 to Mangalore airport from there if one is going by flight:the time taken from Mangalore inner city bus stand to airport is about 1 hr and 20 minutes)
Best of luck to the ones who venture out for the GD/PI in the coming days.
