okie..i knw i am a lil late in posting my GD/PI experience..but this is mostly for the the future SIMSR aspirants...

I had applied for the PGDM as well as the PGDM-IB course and got shortlisted for GD/PI.
Interview was scheduled for March 26 at 9.30 am at the KJ somaiya Campus..
at 9.15 am we were all assembled in the auditorium and first given a short presentation abt the institute.after which we had the written communication test ..the topics for the test were
1) India has won the gold at olympics, has this raised the enthusiam of the sports fans (nt the exact words but sumthing like this)
2) Tata Nano ...JAi Ho!!! but where are the roads....
I chose to write abt the second topic..however my essay was nt not very good and i cudnt even complete it in the time span of 15 minutes
After the written test we were divided in four groups of 14 ...and then taken to different rooms for our GD...there our profile sheets were collected and we were instructed as to how the GD wud be conducted..
we were given a case study and 2 mins to read and evaluate it..also they gave us a small piece of paper so we cud jot down notes ...
our GD topic was abt this lady editor for whom writing was a passion but she was now the managing editorof a newspaper..but now she was facing stiff competition frm rivals and thats why money issues..which caused her to take more advertisement and write less..basically she was sumone who was stuck between her passion to write quality articles or to just run the paper like another business house and maximise profits..
after that each one of us was given 90 secs to talk about the case study..like an extempore....this ensured that all of us got a chance to speak..after this we were given around 15 mins for an open discussion..In my Gd luckily thingd didnt get out of hand or it didnt become a fish market..everyone spoke in turn and most of us got a chance to speak ...however there were a couple of people who didnt speak ..but the panelists intervened and asked them for their opinion and later asked them to summarize the GD ..however the GD i thought was quite THANDA..not too many suggestions and all came up and personally my performance was also very average..
finally after the GD we were taken back to the auditorium and there our marksheets and work experience certificates were examined....
last was the PI.....for me .. i ws the last in my group whose interview wud be taken so i had a long long wait..interview was conducted by two ladies..and mine was definately a stress interview...

m- i knew this one and it was at the tip of my tongue ..but sumhow i just went blank again
p- here the panelists tried and tricked me ..and was like..does it even have a full form ?
m- and i made the mistake of sayin ..i dnt think it does ..(my biggest blunder)
p-so why marketing..
m- told and while explainin said hw i started workin and realised i had a knack for marketing and gave an example of my marketing head who was a physics major..
p-(the panelists caught on to the physics major)..toh phir koi bhi toh kar saakta hai marketing ..itna simple hai..
m- i explained her that if ur passinate u can always switch jobs and never too late..and gave her a very valid justification ..(and i think they were quite impressed with the answer)

m- not this questions made it for me ..coz i really take Obama as my Role model..and knew everything abt him..so i made a short speech abt him..and one of the panelists in the end actually said good..so i was quite happy..
after i came out of the interview room..i breathed a sigh of relief...it went on for quite a ling time 15 mins or mre..which was a lot considering that most ppl in my group got done earlier..mayb for me its cause i was the last person..
now comng to the next part..i did make it through the PGDM-IB course in the first list...
just want all u guys to know that..be confident and be honest..for me i personally think i made it coz of the PI..there were a few blunders i made..but i never lost the smile on my face and never showed one instance of tenshun..
