Re: SC/ST,OBC & PH students queries and discussion for CAT 2009 & other Exams - 04-11-2009, 05:33 PM

i belong to SC category and applying for colleges having SC reservation only

1)cat (all iims)
+ nitie, ubs (punjab univ)
2) fms (both programs)
3) jmet
4) snap (almost all colloges)

didnt applied in iift, iifm, tiss, JBIMS, NPTI, DSE for MIB/MHROD, MFC (D.U.) and FMS-BHU
i've already seen the list (colleges offering sc/st reservatin) given earlier in this thread..

my queries :
1) what are the colleges that come under state universities offering reservation, can any1 provide the list ??
2) any other college left (offering reservation) ????

Hi Puys,
I have a query regarding FMS Admission process:
I understand that General category students dont need to send across anything after online registration..
BUT WHAT ABOUT NC_OBC CANDIDATES??

Are we supposed to send our Non-creamy layer certificates??
If yes, HOW?? Are we supposed to do so in reference to our "Transaction IDs??" Please reply!!

Re: SC/ST,OBC & PH students queries and discussion for CAT 2009 & other Exams - 09-11-2009, 06:33 PM

In 2008 OBC cutoff for IIMA was something like
88 percentile overall and and sectional 80 (in addition to the 25% criteria).
And only 107 OBC candidates met this criteria. After the short listing(CS^2) criteria only 86 got call.

Criteria was much more stringent in CAT 2007 where around 98%ile was cutoff for OBC.( Reservation - 9%)

Last year(CAT 2008 ) at IIMA only 13%(41 seats) were alloted for OBC. This year they are gonna implement full 27%.

Looking at the above statistics I guess this year the will have to reduce the cutoff of OBC to something around 85 percentile or less.(Closer to SC category)

Thats means if one can perform equally well in all the sections, he will get a call.( So that total %ile - lowest %ile is minimum)
Much more precise a 85-90% sectional on a safer side.
Any comments?

yup rightly said...but nothing can be predicted as of now....all in the past were paper pencil now its online...n no one knows how it will be..ours will be the first batch to assess the paper.....so yeah to be on the safer side...its good to aim at 90+% that will draw all the odds in ur favour...till then keep preparing...

Interestng analysis, Bro! Keeping my fingers crossed!!
If it indeed works out the way you have interpreted it, then all i can say is
But as i see it, the IIM-A would not mind keeping a few seats empty, rather than admit incompetent people (like me)..

Re: SC/ST,OBC & PH students queries and discussion for CAT 2009 & other Exams - 10-11-2009, 01:26 AM

Hi puys !!

I havent filled the FMS form yet but hav seen a lot people facing difficulty during the online registration process..

pls resolve my following queries..

1) Can i pay thru icici debit card thru internet banking?

2) do i need to send anything (admit card or OBC certificate etc.) after completing the online registration process? If yes, then how?

3) any precautions that i shud take while making payment during the online registration? some ppl said to select axis bank payment gateway for making payment and not the sbi one..is it true?

4) Do the images to be uploaded need to be strictly 250 X 250 ? I mean signature has more length than breadth so how can it be a square?
is 250 X 100 ok ?

5) If i dont have a masters degree then while filling the form should i leave the year of Masters degree field as 1930(default value). coz there is no option of selecting blank from the dropdown

somebody who has already filled the fms form online...
pls help
