Recently, I sat with my PM and he informed me that, higher management is looking for you to lead the QA activities in your team of 3. He also said that - soon this will be made formal but this may create some problem as you have just 1 year of experience to get this thing formal on the ground. He appraised me verbally with the recommendations on my name from the Higher Management. It happened about a week back, since than, I have started coordinating the activities in my team. But, I am worrying (confused as well) on my efforts that I have planned to put on CAT preps.

This confusion leads me to get stucked at the starting point of two fold path as I am not sure, I can handle both of the things.

Guys, what do you think?
hi bhai,
the part which i have highlighted above makes me a bit skeptical...
you can continue coordinating the activities (coz vaise bhi IT comapnies main kaam vaam kam hi hota hai...)
this will make you a bit busy no doubt...but will help you in the longer run as you can have a feel of a team lead kind of a thing...which sooner or later you will be going to do...
you are worried as you are unable to see yourself managing the preps and the work...but you need to manage the time judiciously...that's the only way...
also...don't tell any one in the office that you are preparing for cat or something as it will give them a whole bunch of reasons to screw you...

Hi all ,

I started my preparation from September mid only. So is the time sufficient to prepare for CAT?

Since i am not able to fully devote my time for CAT preparation.

Kindly tell me how can i allocate my time in preparing and will the time be sufficient for the preparation to be undertaken since only two months left for CAT.

Thanks,

Re: CAT 2009 for working professionals - 01-10-2009, 10:16 AM

hi all,
even after taking almost 15 mock cats i m not able to finalize my strategy,
as a result my %iles varied from 93 to 65 sm times

the thing is that i m always able to clear cut offs in VA section(except 2 Aimcats) but never able to clear cutoff of DI

i m looking for a proper strategy to take on aimcats and the actual cat in turn

the strategy i follow nw is
1st 30 min>>all rcs
45 min>>> QA
15 min>>> EU
45min>>>DI

the thing is that at time i comes over DI, i m not able to handle the pre notions of DI being hard for me and often commit mistakes while choosing the easy caselets

also i feel i am more comfortable in LR then DI so goes with LR questions only
which results in more time consumption but higher accuracy as in other case

help me puys
suggest some test taking strategy that u r working on

bcos for me even hardwork is not being fruitful.

Hi I gave CAT 2008 but didn't got pretty good score and the worst was in VA 12 percentile. This year I was expecting a change but after AIMCAT 1007 all my perceptions for VA went wrong. I was excepting RC as my strongest part but it turned out reverse. I don't know what to do as I'm short of time. Please help

Thanks,
Ayush

Generally speaking, 3 months is not a lot of time to give for CAT preparation. But we dont know ur profile or ur success at other competitive exams or if u have taken CAT last year. If this is your first attempt at this type of exam and you can afford to wait for next year, go ahead, give CAT and see if you can attempt it fairly well. If you want to get in this year, focus on CAT.

You cannot expect to crack CAT (if this is your first time) in 3 months by studying for an hour at night every day. You need to practice tests and be thorough in your strengths and weaknesses. So make time from work, take a month of leave of absense and concentrate and get yourself up to time. Would you be able to do this?
