Hi puys
I have been in IT field for past 13 months. Verbal is my nemesis, screwed up verbal in CAT08(64.xx%ile)And the shocker is 91.xx%ile in XAT for VA with out much use. So getting geared up for CAT 09. It would be really helpfull if you guys can suggest how you balance work and prep?? And how much time you guys are planning to spent on prep each day?? Knowing fully well that it will be different for all still curious... And some tips to improve verbal.

Hey fellow Puys
i think its now time to make a start. we are all mostly on the same road i mean same targets and nearly similar profiles. so why not begin with together towards our goal.
Com'mon people. what are we waiting for. I have started with verbal section as of now. This is one which has nearly killed me every time. now i want to screw it. analyse the section in which u are weakest and pour ur whole enery into it.
We'll take up the strong area later.
What say!!!

Okay! Was hoping I would not be seeing this thread(about CAT 2009 I mean ), but I need to face eets! It's CAT 2009 for me! 2008 was my first attempt. I scored 99.2 percentile but a measly 65 percentile in Quant completely screwed my chances at anything substantial this time. :new_let_it_all_out:

So guys, let's all give in a concerted attempt this time and bell the 'oh-so-coveted' feline. :-)

I'll be putting in my two cents whenever possible and I hope I get some new insights this time and maybe learn from past mistakes!

ALL ZE BEST to all!

PS - Any updates on the format of the CAT this time? If so, could someone post the link?

Hi everyone!

I have 15 months of experience in IT. (lot of IT guys here )

Took all exams for the first time this year. Only decent score was XAT, 95.45 %ile. But that wasn't good enough.

NMAT & FMS Scores still to come, but me not too hopeful. oketoungeb:

So me in for CAT - 09.

I've realised my weakness is Quant !!! So starting off with those basics now!!

All the best to everyone!!! Will keep coming back to this thread!!

Re: CAT 2009 for working professionals - 28-01-2009, 12:02 PM

I am another IT Professional working in a MNC from the past 6 months !
Gave cat and xat this year screwed in both of 'em though !
Managed to get an overall percentile of 68.75 in cat with out much prep though and 54.340 percentile in xat with hardly any prep !

Performed decent enough in quant in cat (96.02 percentile ) obviously my strongest section with verbal being my main nemesis !

Gearing up for cat-09 ! Of late i am studying Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis ! Managing to get some time only in the evenings and will be dedicating full time for verbal atleast for a month from now on and ofcourse pagalguy @ office !

I guess everyone should be done with the basics by the time AIMCATS starts
All the best for all the professionals here We shall rip apart cat this year what ever happens ! Guys pour in with your views regarding the preps especially verbal !

Regards,
Varun.
