hey rohit, well good questions to bring to notice...
1st of all about loans and scholarships…
Loans are readily available from all banks at good terms, no collateral etc… and almost entire expenses can be covered…
Another fact is that most good colleges have crossed the 10 L mark anyways so 13 L for MDI isn’t exorbitant… (please don’t name FMS here, the insti is godly
J ) anyways with the loans and easy repayments at the grass root level it’s not a problem to manage the funds at all…
The scholarship chances are also good and aplenty… Almost entire European stay can be sponsored if you can get the scholarships… ( 2 guys for my batch so far)
Next role of MDI and ESCP in getting you interns…
Well, intern records for institutes are as important for institutes as they are for students… And all reputed institutes understand and take care of the fact…
The thing is its mutually beneficial, and hence institutes provide every support that they can to students… Agreed things in Europe function in a different way as compared to India but nonetheless you can take my word on it and rest assured the colleges would leave no stone unturned to get you the best that you deserve…
2nd very important issue…
yes ur right internships and even final placements in not just MDI or India but globally have taken a hit, and yes it definitely has slowed down things everywhere ... for example... earlier a process of getting summer interns which took 1 month is now taking 2 or 3 months ... or perhaps the pays offered might not increase the same way as they were increasing over last few years... and things like that...
Now the thing is will this slow down time persist?? and if it does will it affect fresh management graduates in a manner which will steal away all the benefits of being a management grad…??
The argument can go on… But so far what I have been through in the course, I have found it’s an experience worth having even without considering any future monetary aspects… although yeah it won’t be sustainable in the long run if you cant get a job good enough to pay the interest for bank loan…. Plus the job should be able to give you atleast the salary that you would have got had you worked as just a graduate…
Nonetheless considering the market situation like a management student and with all the wisdom I have gained from almost 7 months of MDI studies
J I have to say that markets keep on rising and falling it’s a cycle and it doesn’t stop… but good managers and leaders see things through these cycles and still emerge as not just survivors but winners...
On that very positive note I would end this discussion, saying that as a would be manager, you need to analyze risks and take a leap…. There is just no escaping that fact… stakes are always high (in this case fees for example) and the biggest winners are those who turn the steepest odds in their favour… So take your call, the manager in you has a choice to make…
Peace...
