Hi bonjour and Nikhil,
As stated on the website, the GD/PI sessions will take place in Feb, March and May. How is the distribution of seats done? Are the total no. of seats divided equally for all the 3 intakes or is it that if the whole batch gets filled up in the 1st round itself than other dates may be scrapped off? If a person is not able to make it in one of the rounds, say Feb, can he try again in the subsequent round, say March?
Also, would appreciate a little input on GD/PI.

hey nishant,
the distribution of seats is definitely not uniform across the gd/pi batches....seats are alloted on the basis of merit that a student commands...but yeah..some seats will definitely be left vacant for the subsequent cycles..but the number can't really be guessed right now!
now if a person is not able to make it through in one of the cycles, then the doors are shut for him for that particular year. which means his participation is not invited for the cycles that follow.
for gd/pi, all i can say to u is to be yourself. read the latest issues of businessworld, browse through the daily newspapers(TOI,ECONOMIC TIMES and so on), be clear on ur resume and be prepared to face questions on the same, work on ur verbal and non-verbal skills ,blah-blah...the list is endless but the bottomline stays the same-'BE YOURSELF'. u can revert back to me or my good friend nikhil in case u have further queries.
cheers!

Hi bonjour and nikhil,
the curriculum in IT at Praxis covers RDBMS, data processing & data mining (SAP?), data structures and algorithms (C++?). I am interested in taking-up these subjects as electives along with other subjects from mkt domain.
Now I am a person from non IT background. At most IT knowledge that I have is basics of C & foxpro. I dont know nything abt database management systems, ERP etc. The reason I am so keen to learn these subjects, especially ERP & RDBMS is that many of my friends in US have taken up classes in SAP, even though working in a pharma company as they say that a good manager should be familiar with it.
My question is whether people like me would be taught the basics of DBMS, data structures etc before choosing the electives or are these subjects meant only for students who have prior knowledge of IT?

Yes Nishant you can take as many IT subject as you want in your electives but just as a reminder there is limit on no.of electives that you can opt and that only in secong year you can go for electives..i hope you are clear on this from the curriculam..
Now as far as IT subjects mentioned by you in the curriculam are concerned there are designed and taught from the perspective to be tough to newbies so dont worry about it and myself being from an IT background could assure that IT background does'nt really give a much edge..
i donno the background of our friends but just let me remind you that all these cources are designed from managerial perspective so you won't get to do programming much...so if you thinking for a full fledged technical cources on thse then thses are not the cources but at the same time it's what a MBA need's..managerial perspective...
Thanks..

Hi nikhil,
Thanx for the reply. Well I know that the electives will have to be chosen in the 2nd year but am not sure about the total no. of electives one is free to choose. Kindly share some info. on this.
Also, regarding the fee structure, as per the website it comes out to be around 6.6 lakhs including accomodation. How much extra (in the form of tax) has to be paid? Also how much is the avg mess bill per annum?
Are there students from pharma/biotech/medical background in your batch?

In the three trimister of 2nd year you have to choose 19 electives and if you are very keen you can opt for one or two extra but they will not contribute to overal grades..i think this is mentioned in curriculam provided in website.
Yeah fee structure is same as what you mentioned with 12.36% tax on overall roughly. so i comes around 7.5L..regarding mess it turns out to be 2500 per month roughly...... depends on your intake capacity and frequency
Thanks..
