Re: CAT 08: Verbal Section Discussion - 16-11-2008, 03:52 PM

I searched for the para-completion questions on the web and following are the answers. Cannot post the exact links as could not save them.

1. "Most people at the first consultation...."
Ans: "Other patients don't like...."

2. "Trade protectionism...."
Ans: "Defenders of....."

3. "Mattancherry....."
Ans:"India's Jews"

4."Given the...."
Ans:"The origin...."

Now when I think of it they were quite tough nuts to crack.

Re: CAT 08: Verbal Section Discussion - 16-11-2008, 03:58 PM

For para completion:
chk..
The Jews of India | Living far apart | The Economist

copying the required answer..
Mattancheri is Indian Jewry’s most famous settlement. Its pretty streets of pastel-coloured houses, connected by first-floor passages and home to the last 12 sari- and sarong-wearing, white-skinned Indian Jews, are visited by thousands of tourists each year. Its synagogue, built in 1568, with a floor of blue-and-white Chinese tiles, a carpet given by Haile Selassie and the frosty Yaheh selling tickets at the door, stands as an image of religious tolerance. India’s Jews have almost never suffered discrimination, except from European colonisers—and each other.

The bold part is the correct answer....

answer key is out on hitbullseye.com for all sets. its a reputed institute in chandigarh. You can vouch their key is good. For VA/RC, no institute's key except the IIM is good enough of course

Best of luck to everyone

Most people at their first consultation take a furtive look at the surgeon’s hands in the hope of reassurance. Prospective patients look for delicacy, sensitivity, steadiness, perhaps unblemished pallor. On this basis, Henry Perowne loses a number of cases each year. Generally, he knows it’s about to happen before the patient does: the downward glance repeated, the prepared questions beginning to falter, the overemphatic thanks during the retreat to the door. Other patients don’t like what they see but are ignorant of their right to go elsewhere;
