i fully agree with you. and u know the most bizarre thing is that they have to google the whole passage to arrive at the correct para completion. really i feel proud that i didn,t joined any of these so called inst and went for self preparation.
and i am sure there will be huge variation in answer keys
till best of luck to all puys for iift exam.

The Telegraph - Calcutta (Kolkata) | Opinion | signs ignored
Regarding the congenital, genetic FIB, both these words fit in. I think the 2nd blank will be the deciding factor here, education fits in better, in my view.
Regarding the usage of round, someone correctly pointed out that all the institutes who have been thinking of 4 and 5 as probable answers might get this wrong. The shop is located round the corner looks rather fishy, I wont be surprised if this indeed is the correct option.
Regarding the institutions, organs FIB- still doubtful.. cant find any plausible rationale completely in favor of 1 answer. The institutes who have gone for the 4th option organs; tradition may have got this one right though.
I, unfortunately, find myself on the wrong side of these mistakes.
Regarding the paragraph completion, I think it would be best to leave the CAT to do the thinking here. If such a rage has been ensuing over the para-completion, it would only be fair to infer that all the options are very close. There might be a few changes in 'em, there's no need to be google-ing for those paragraphs. Especially because, the usage of the word "for" instead of "from" in the Mattancherry Q. seems rather deliberate. People tell me that historically IIM's have always stuck to the actual para but again, CAT has always been full of surprises!
So guys..please hold your horses! Para completion, come Jan 2009, might not look the same!

I think congenital is more appropriate than genetic in the FIBs.
Word Web Says:
congenital: Present at birth but not necessarily hereditary; acquired during foetal development.
And this is the meaning which is conveyed in the sentence, if taken in purely psychological terms. And this also means that there is quite an amount of difference between 'congenital' and 'genetic' than as is being percieved by the institutes.

^ I agree. I was stuck between hereditary and congenital and went with congenital for the reason you stated

Re: CAT 08: Verbal Section Discussion -

People who think they/institutes have messed up the para-completion and are feeling a little low due to the Verbal section, here's more hope...
The Mattancherry Q.
Throw out all the past history of the article the institutes are quoting and read on.
Read the passage given to you, it says "Mattancherry is Indian Jewry's most famous settlement. Its pretty streets of pastel coloured houses... Its synagogue.."
What is this about? Indian Jews? Not in the least. Look at the 2nd and the 3rd sentence. The word "Its" has been used. Ask yourself, what does "Its" refer to? Indian Jews? NO! It refers to Mattancherry. Religious tolerance is not in question here, Mattancherry is. Obviously, the sentence which appropriately completes the paragraph is the one in keeping with the theme..i.e. Mattancherry. Not religious tolerance, not Jews, not streets. Only option (1). To add to that, the usage of "for" further adds confusion to the construct of the whole sentence!
Do not think all is over just because of all the keys that have come out (or should I say a google search)
