Dood whatever you dude before you listen to people asking you to chuck L
just see is they had their L iv/s and if they had gotten through(apparently an L WL is expected )

on a serious note..
By the lok of it you seem to have the heart and drive for another CAT but there are alot more issues beyond you.... CAT itself doubtful (agreed MMJ is out but u never know , he might get back before october ...courtesy:: Gr8 indian political circus ).... to name just one..

hey man,

the prob. with u seems that u have already decided on what u need to do, then why ask?

neway, just one more tip for u if u have/havent read my earlier tips:
just think of the only reason that would make u take up IIML.....if even that doesnt motivate u, then go to wherever u want...after all, its ur life man. do it the way u want.

bow.

hi iim_abclik,

jus joined the site 2day... was goin thru ur query... kinda in the same boat... got calls from only i and k and converted the two.... but im really keen to give cat another shot... so can really empathize wid ur delimma... although ive sent my draft to indore im stil kinda thinkin about it... ud know how crazy it is...

il jus give you a few things that hv been goin thru my head...
first and foremost of course is to take a decision that u dont regret... if you feel you wil always think ur meant for better stuff (read A,B,C) then u hv to give yourself a chance..

the second thing which was a big deal in my case was wat my family wanted ... i knew that they expect a lot from me and wd really be miserable if i didnt clear the exam next time .... thats y im even considerin goin to indore this year...

al the best to you ... hope you make a decision ur happy wid... coz there are no wrong decisions here...

as for everyone else ... how about some advize for me.. ive jus given my final year exams from Delhi univ in commerce... got a really good job with ernst and young... wats everyone's take for me???

Hi Friends,

My 2 cents - what do you think an institute alone can give. Think about it. At the end of the day what matters is - the person and how hard he has worked there at instii to get his basics right. In terms of foreign placements, A,B and C are ahead but only top 15-20 people out of 250 get that and after that it is same across any iim.

From my experience, one learns much more from peers and self study than actually from professors. In 'I' it is entirely case based studies and for that group study is a must and one learns most there.
I would say, don't base or place everthing with the instii as it is an established setup, but also think what you individually can contribute.

I have 3 years workex before joining 'I' and most of my friends did give up their cat preparation and my tenacity paid. And those guys were really good, some left it for onsite chances, others just fizzled out as work takes its toll. It is not at all easy to work and prepare for CAT as the job is not 9 to 5 types and for me, i would return around 10'o clock in the night, tired, and would again leave house at 7:30 in the morning.

So buddy think about the parameters based on which you are taking the decision and not just whether it is big '3' or not.

All the best for your future.

Cheers
SK

Hi Prashantm,

umm...had i been into your place i would have taken up working at E&Y..
Now,these are the assumptions :
1)You want to stick to you domain..commerce/finance
2)since you are into E&Y,you are pretty good in it and must be following something else too like CA/ICWA...

if yes, then an E&Y experience would really make your profile "Different"...
which would help you not only during your interviews but also summers/final placement shortlists later....

i am not over estimating your responsiblities at E&Y...even if its a normal job its still a great company to be assocaited with

right now, with a bcom, your profile would be at best comparable to the 100's of fresh engineers...nothing different..and even then people prefer stickuing to engg..(god knows for what reasons!) .....

with e&y kind of experience you can really cash on it later if you make correct moves...

Another Important Point:

dont be in a hurry to do an MBA...right now you are just a graduate, start working now...try from next year only for IIMS/XLRI/FMS...any one of these with your profile i think would be really great...

Hope it helps,
Mohit
