Plain and simple dude
if u got a job go for it (u will surely do better next time)
frankly go for tapmi only if u believe u wont get it even next year
else even Infy for a coupla yeras and tapmi looks as a better profile than tapmi for a fresher

I am no pro on this issue but my opinion is that the tag of the institute does carry some weightage and among the A or B category institutes all are considered the same.
If you have the option of going to Infosys then do catch hold of it because after two years of working at Infosys you can again try CAT or else SPJain would be an equivalently good option. Besides, in this case you will have two years for preparation and can even think of joining ISB through GMAT.
From where I see all your options two years hence will be better than TAPMI today. The point is why put your hardwork in a A or B category institute when the same hardwork can take you places in a A+ category B-school.
I think Infy is a better option . Personally , I dont know how good TAPMI is , but I think the placements may not be as good as the A-grade B-Schools . Infy is a better move for tgeh foll. reasons :
1.I hear it has a good work culture
2.Lotta ppl in Infy write CAT every year , so itll be easy to find a study group .
3.2 years in Infy will be very good in your resume if you get IIM calls .
So my advice is , chuck Tapmi for Infy and prep for a year for CAT .
Thanks a lot to all you guys it was gr8 of all of you to give me ur valuable advice thanks to the moderator too in accordance with ur advice, Ive decided to join infosys and give cat in the yr 2005 ..once again, thanks..any more advice is welcome (I just hope I get the hard copy of the infy job offer as soon as possible)
was in similar situation in 2001.. got thru TAPMI
but instead decided to join my family business, didnt write cat 2002. wrote cat 2003 got thru IMT ..ditched it,right now waitlisted at I, if I dont get thru will write cat2004.

If you have the patience, conviction and confidence in yourself to be able to better your performance in CAT next year while working simultaneously then give CAT another shot! Else , remember that 5 years down the line people will judge you by your performance and not the institute. I'm sure there must be a few people who have failed in life though they r frm IIM-A.
It's your call.
