In copying a quadratic equation of the form x^2 + px + q =0, a student wrote the coefficient of x incorrectly and the roots were found to be 3 and 10; another student wrote the same equation but he wrote the constant term incorrectly and thus he found the roots to be 4 and 7. The roots of the correct equation are.
(a) 5,6
(b) 4,6
(c) 4, 5
(d) None of these

it can't be 4
sum of roots is - and product of roots negative
so one root is positive and one root neagtive
hence given the mod in the question
we shall have 2 roots

condition is b^2 >= 4ac Real roots
hence when b = 2 => a,c =1 1 value
=> b = 3 a,c = (1,1) (1,2) (2,1) ... so on
total 25 values
